No. The one that is in all the pictures is supposedly a Diesel based on the noise it made starting but no one even knows which Diesel it was, the US mini-Powerstroke, the Lion engine, or something else.

Ford has not confirmed the Ranger Raptor will actually show up in the US. :p The LHD configuration just means that particular truck was built for the European or Latin American markets.

It’s pretty likely it’s coming at some point though since they have been road testing one in Michigan. No point in doing that unless they are bringing it to market in the US. The main question is when. The second question is what will be under the hood. No one has those answers and Ford is probably testing several options.

One thing that is good about FoMoCo... they seem to listen to consumer feedback.

I'm part of the SHO community and we plead for years for its return. 2010 we were granted our wish.

Point: want the Raptor... bug Ford and it's likely you'll receive.

The new Ford Rangers are everywhere in Southeast Asia. I would put its size between a modern F250 and a 3rd Gen Tacoma.

Here’s one I saw on my recent trip to Manila. They are very very common trucks.

Rangers only died in the US and Canada markets... they soldiered on every else in the world. Ford determined there wasn't a market here for smaller trucks. The success of the Coloanon trucks changed their minds.

Actually if you read the article it appears to be just another failure of the Takata parts company. They made the seat belt pretensioners. Toyota and several other companies just went through a massive airbag recall due to Takata airbags being defective. I wonder if we are in for a second round on some of their other products.

they couldn't compete with the Toyota and Nissan trucks in the US market, so they stuck all their strength into the F150 full size which sells well in the US market

You're asking a lot for a fanboy to read "non-Ford part catching on fire in Ford vehicle" when the last four words is all his brain can comprehend

Ford already had models bigger than the F-150 so unlike Toyota which simply upsized both the Tundra and Taco(about the same size now as original T-100) to meet wheel base indexed fuel economy standars Ford opted to push harder on selling the F-150 and dropped the Ranger. There's a gigantic void in the market once again which small, inexpensive, cheap to operate trucks used to occupy. Toyata and Nissan pretty much forced Detroit to compete in that arena and now all of them are out. I wonder what will come along to fill it.

Mahindra was rumored to bring their small truck here 5-10 years ago but it fell through for a number of reasons.

Ford is pushing trucks and SUVs hard now which goes with bringing the ranger and bronco back. Not only will they sell more than their cars did at a higher profit margin, but they are also going to be taking a huge chunk out of their competitors sales.

Ram is also bringing back a mid size to fill the Dakota void.

Took a look at the new Ranger's configurator to evaluate pricing. Was mostly interested in the FX4 STX Supercab. After being stingy on the options it still rang up at $33k and didnt even offer ACC.

Tacoma SR with Convenience still has the lead unless Ford attacks with incentives.

Why are you comparing a FX4 which has an elocker and upgraded suspension to a sr that doesn't?

It wasnt meant to be a 1 to 1 comparison.

I was interested in the Ranger since it represented an "as is" package. I'd add a camper shell and some tires and call it a day.

With the Tacoma, that is simply where I'd start and then finish with aftermarket parts to essentially make a comparable truck.

The differential being biggest differential and the bonus for the Ford. That and the engine that is.
