Torx are 100x's better than any flat tip...The flat tip screws get stuck half way in a board then strip out, then you try to take it out and it strips out so it doesnt go in or out, then you have to get a visegrip to take it out then it breaks 2-3 threads of the screw are still sticking out of the board...Then you just end up hammering whats left into the board.;)

Sounds like you have a bias against flat tips...

Definitely...I usually end up tossing them as far as I can throw them if I have to take them out with a vise grip...Im going to all torx screws on anything Im building.

Ok. Read it. It says he was in a heated arguement with the girlfriend when the guy who got shot came up and pushed him (first physical contact) to the ground. Therefore, the guy who got shot was the initial phyical aggressor (which is what I asked).
It does state that the shooter had complaints in the past of being an aggressor. However, had no charges related to those incidents.
The burden is to prove that the shooter did not fear additional physical action that would have seriously injured or killed him. Which as in some of these types of confrontations coud have included further assault with kicks to the head from multiple persons.
Now, I am not saying I agree with his actions. But the sheriff sent the info up the chain because the evidence he saw showed the shooter was within the current law as written.
Dont like the law, change it.

Partially right but it should be 'immediate' instead of 'additional'. In order to be a good shoot, law enforcement or private citizen, you have to be able to articulate intent, means, opportunity, and preclusion. Preclusion isn't much of a factor in a 'stand your ground' state but all four of those can change every fraction of a second. The instant he started walking away intent went away. If he had turned back around and taken one step towards him it would have been a good shoot.

Yes, the sheriff sent the info up the chain and stated that the DA had the final say on charges. The DA came back with the manslaughter charge, so must think this case doesn't meet the stand your ground criteria.

    My opinion:
-I think my reaction to someone aggressively yelling at my wife wouldn't be to friendly either. (Doesn't make it the smart or right thing to do though)
-Yes, the person who was shot made first physical contact. But it seems to me hard to prove that he was still a threat while he had his hands out and was backing away.
-The shooter was known to the cops for having picked several fights in the past, a few in which he had brandished his gun. I think that goes towards proving he's not the most responsible gun owner/carrier. Is that relevant legally to the current case? I'm not sure.

In my state no report of previous issues means it didn’t happen when the case goes to court.

The primary lessons here are don’t be a Dick and park in spots the property owner has reserved for people with mobility issues if you yourself aren’t authorized to do so.

There are cranks everywhere looking for any reason they can find to get wound up.

When you throw hands expect any possible reaction, including your own death.

    Well said and agreed.

Also, people that park in handicapped spots that don't need it are complete dicks.

A woman dubbed the “kayak killer” -- who drowned her fiancé by pulling the plug on the couple's small boat -- was awarded a portion of his $491,000 life insurance payout Monday.

Angelika Graswald and the family of Vincent Viafore came to an agreement that would give the convicted Latvian native a financial settlement, the Poughkeepsie Journalreported.

"Everything has gotten resolved," Graswald’s lawyer Anthony Piscionere told the news site. "There is a financial settlement, the amount of which is confidential. However, as a result of that settlement, the administrator of the estate has withdrawn that action to disqualify her from taking any funds."

As part of the agreement, Viafore’s family agreed to drop their wrongful death lawsuit against Graswald. In return, Graswald dropped her appeal in her homicide case.

Viafore’s family filed the lawsuit to prevent Graswald from getting a single penny of her former fiance’s life insurance payout.

“It’s been a nightmare for the last, almost three years,” Viafore’s mother, Mary Ann Viafore, previously told the New York Post. “She doesn’t deserve the money. She caused his death!”

Graswald was released from prison in December after spending nearly three years behind bars for criminally negligent homicide in Viafore’s death. She pulled the train plug on Viafore’s kayak while they were paddling on the Hudson River in 2015 and watched him drown. She then reported him missing until officials found his body a month later.

She admitted in court that she failed to see her actions would lead to Viafore's death.

“The criminal plea did not disqualify our client from taking these funds. They still had to prove that she recklessly or intentionally committed this murder, and I think that was going to be a very high bar for them to meet,” Piscionere told CBS New York.

Graswald was entitled to receive 45 percent of Viafore’s death benefits as the policy’s primary beneficiary, according to the report.
