That’s not how it usually works for the Tacoma.

    Gen 1: 1/1995 to 8/2004
    Gen 2: 8/2004 to 8/2015

If the trend continues Gen 4 will be out in 2025 or so.

I think they might do some sort of a new body style and leave the drivetrain and engine combo alone for now.

I think it’s a matter of perception. I’m sure I’m not the only pro owner who bought the pro just because they wanted a nice truck with a blend of all the best elements available in the factory Tacoma.
I personally just like what I like, and buy that, for me. Not concerned with impressing my neighbors.

I read in another thread that they call it a "desert air snorkel" because the rest of the truck (ie electronics, etc) was not designed to trek thru water. Can anyone confirm?

yes it is supposed to be for air flow to the box and for dust protection not water

If they do what they usually do you may see a facelift with the same generation and a complete generation change around year 10

I've tried twice already and two separate dealers sold the truck as I was on my way to buy it. We agreed on price over the phone and email and as I got there the new owners were either in with the finance guy or just waiting for their truck to be detailed. I kind of just gave up at that point and said I'll just wait for 2019 models. Maybe I won't wait now.

Seems like it defeats the purpose of a snorkel...I figured water was the main reason people get them... not sand/dust.

I have to wait till 2020 so we will see what the taco looks like then,i do hope they change the waffle iron grille on the sport to something more attractive.

Sad to see the blazing blue pearl and inferno colors gone, but glad I got one while I could.

I hear you. I would have bought the Pro myself, if my daily driver budget allowed for the additional coin. I was happy to settle with the OR.

Inferno was my second favorite color (only superseded by cement at time of purchase and now also cav blue). Not a color you see around the corner. I specially like it now that it is discontinued.

Its say dont give up and find you one before they are gone!

I can almost bet the dust snorkel will be an option. What percentage of Pro owners are tooling around in the desert.:der: I doubt Toyota would be that stupid. But you never know.
    I know I wouldn’t want one.

What about the option to run duel snorkels up both sides for EXTRA breath-ability from the dust??

    Inferno is discontinued!!!:dancingbacon::broccoli::jellydance::kona::bananadance::yay::taco:

FUCKING SWEET, been waiting for this to happen since I bought mine :0)

Especially in my area where inferno is really popular that just earned me $thousands$ more in resale value, Mexicans LOVE the inferno and now someone is gonna pay out the ass when I'm ready to sell mine for a Cavalry blue :D

typically Toyota will do a mid cycle refresh :

7yr gen cycle : at the 3-4 yr mark
10yr gen cycle : at the 4-5 yr mark

but since Toyota has been moving the trucks to a longer gen cycle (model years)

4runner 5th gen (2009-Present - 10yrs) with a projected new gen coming fall of 2020 (model year 2021) which pushes the gen cycle to 12 yrs
Tundra 2nd gen (2006-Present - 13 yrs) with a projected new gen coming fall of 2019 (model year 2020) or fall of 2020 (model year 2021) pushing this out to 14-15 yrs
    Tacoma 4th gen (2004-2015 - 12 yrs)

that means most likely the mid cycle refresh should be 2021 model year (fall of 2020) 6 yrs

but tundra went thru 2 minor facelifts during its current gen cycle (2011 & 2015 if I am correct)

The snorkel will allow drunk people to pour their drink down it just to mess with people. Stupid it's standard if true.

Also, buy the color because you actually like the color, not for exclusivity. These aren't Pagani's, they are Toyota's with 20k a month rolling off the assembly line.
