How to keep my leaf from moving...

This has happened about a 4-5 times now. I have a 3" lift on my truck that Les Schwabs put on for me, it's also their lift kit (tough country). I just drove up from Oregon to Alaska and the middle leaf has drifted over yet again.

It gets over and rubs against a rubber guard and is got awful to listen to, it is beyond annoying. Everytime it happens I take it to Schwabs and they fix it. Well, no more Schwabs up here in AK. Plus I'm tired of doing that, it's a wast of time and shouldn't happen. Also, it's always the same side, never the right side.

What needs to be done to keep this from happening? Also, this happens from nothing but driving on gravel roads, I don't off road my rig.

    Thanks

Ya, you can pound on it all day long as hard as you want with a mini sledge and it won't budge. How that thing moves is beyond me. It does not have a bracket around it and I agree that it should, who knows. I'll take it to a new place and see what they can do as far as securing and possibly torquing the U-bolts down tighter.

    Thanks

u could take apart your leaf pack and make sure the center pin is in and/or just tighten it, as well as re-torquing your ubolts

Loosen your u bolts and realign the leaf. Install a couple of leaf spring clamps and then retighten your u bolts. As you are already aware, anything less is a total waste of time.

I've made them for my '98 Tacoma and have had a pair installed on my 2005 for a couple of years now. Very easy to make yourself for cheap.

you dont have to loosen the ubolts to move it back.. it happens to me with the overload leaf every now and then. just jack the truck up so the axle has no weight at all on it. then take your sledge and beat it back in line. when the weight of the truck is off it it will move when you hit it. after that i would suggest checking to make sure the ubolts are tight enough.

This or you could also use a large C clamp to "press" the leaf back into place if the sledge doesn't work. Weight off the springs should be a given.

Make sure the center pin is tight. But the main thing is to make sure your u-bolts are torqued down properly. Min would be like 75lb/ft. I prefer 100lb/ft myself.
