    Mostly stuff I built.
I run mine mounted with the base at cab height most of the time. When I have all our camping gear loaded up I can’t really tell the tent is up there as far as stability goes. However between trips with just the tent and just my regular gear I can feel the weight of the tent up there but it is nothing that I worry about.

As far as fuel mileage goes. My Prinsu rack covers about 3-4” of the tent’s height. To kick the wind up and over I use a solar panel as a wind deflector on the Prinsu rack in front the tent. Without the solar panel in front of mine I get about 2.5-3 mpg less than with it. So it may look weird to some but it works remarkably well. 2.5-3 mpg over a 2000 mile trip adds up in my world. I also have a set of bars for mounting my tent level with the top of my Prinsu as well. I use them when I am going in to areas with lots of brush and tight trails. With the tent mounted to them I see about an average of 1.5 mpg better mileage than the full height cage mount with the solar panel kicked up.

While above the cab will give you the most room, I personally prefer the mid height. Just a few inches above the cab keeps everything relatively streamline and also makes it a little harder for stuff in the bed to walk off. Sorry for potato pic, broke camera lens

Kb Voodoo mid height rack puts it just a few inches above the cab. I don’t notice a difference when I put it on and I get maybe 1 MPG less.

Do you still get any of the view outside of your rear window with that KB Voodoo mid-height rack?

You get a semi decent slot to look through. Visibility is considerably better with the 18" rack.

I set mine up to be at just about cab height. Keeps my COG low, and doesn't do any worse damage to my MPG's than the E-rated BFG's do.

I do not have an annex, but it was definitely on my options list when i considered the pros and cons of mounting height. I've felt i could use it a few times, but not to the point where i'd get one. I think my tent is really just too low anyways to make it usable.

Do your tonneau cover brackets work with the factory tonneau cover?

mine is on 8 inch bed bars. i can still use the annex and as mentioned before, it makes it pretty difficult for people to snatch large items out of the bed. centerofgravity is nice and low but you cant see out the rear view but that doesnt bother me.

Whats the difference between the KBVoodoo products and the Max Modular products? They seem to look pretty similar.

With MAX Modular, we incorporated everything we've learned about bed racks over the last few years. We made it a whole new website because none of the parts or accessories are interchangeable with KB Voodoo racks.

I made a “mid-high” rack. The bottom of the tent sits right at the top of my rear window. I still have full visibility out the rear(minus the spare tire). And it’s perfectly flush with my roof rack cases.. I haven’t noticed any MPG effects. I don’t even notice it’s up there

Who makes a rack these days that fit over a soft top? Why can the new modular styles not be made to work with the soft topper? Or has someone figured it out and I missed the boat?

The legs would have to stick way out from the side of the truck for our modular racks to fit over a softopper, that's why we don't do it. Plus there isn't a ton of demand for it.

But, this rack will fit over a softopper: http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/utility-rack-for-tonneau-covers

I like this KBVoodoo Utility Rack because it will let you use a hard folding tonneau.

    Where does
Hmm these products seem like exactly what I am looking for. I am going to buy the tonneau and the rack together.

So it looks like the Utility Rack for Tonneau's will allow you to use a hard folding tonneau without any restrictions? Where does the RTT sit on this rack relative to the cabin? (it looks like you can adjust the height of the legs on the order page).

What about the max modular 10" and 18" rack, where does the RTT sit relative to the cabin? Also, what types of tonneau covers are compatible with these racks?

I basically want to have the RTT sit as low as possible while preserving most of the view out the back window for daily driving, not sure which rack to get.
