Received the T-SB 0058-18 today (supposedly... no sticker under the hood). I am in Colorado and go into the mountains at least once a week. Not sure why they uploaded the 58 vs the 62... but I will drive it up into the mountains as soon as possible and report back...

I owned a Colorado for a year before the Tacoma. The shifting wasn't as bad, but it definitely tried to upshift as fast as it could for mpg sake.

So I got my SR born 5/18. I too had this done at the dealership last Thursday and it has changed everything. The lag at WOT off the start is gone and it really does feel like it has more power. All the frantic shifting has stopped, the only thing I notice is it doesnt want to shift into 6th gear as quickly at highway speed. Easy fix. Definitely get this done asap! You will appreciate your Taco a whole lot more...

That's just the TSB that they used to get you the new software. If you got it, you got the same program as everyone else is getting.

The T-SB is used to receive the software update. The same software calibration is used to resolve both 58 and 62.

did you have the crank position sensor tsb performed at some point as well? Thats a possible explanation for your surprisingly negative experience thus far

you can fix the low hanging exhaust aft of transfer case as well by going with a urd spec u exhaust like me! Its a pretty great upgrade to the truck, sounds great and looks good too. Might have ever gotten a little power

Took a TW break for a while, came back to find this thread, now sitting at Toyota waiting for the TSB. The advisor asked whats going on... I lol'd and said it races to 6th gear, stumbles if I stomp on it when stopped and it surges under moderate acceleration (like feathering the clutch on a two-stroke, which is a new development for me). He said the surging and stumbling from stopped are addressed in the same calibration, and I think I read somebody else mentioned it's in less of a hurry to get into 6th. Fingers crossed...

On my SR, at highway speed and around the city I noticed imediately it did not shift into 6th gear as much. Could be the tranny "learned" how I drive now? I have 4k miles on her now so I think its more the TSB. Definitely gave more off the start power...im liking it! Get her done!

Just got off the phone with two local dealers. Both of them told me the same thing and both of them told me they had no idea what a TSB was and nothing they could do if it didn't show up as a warranty. The first one was extremely rude and after arguing I hung up on them. The 2nd dealer service person was extremely nice and scheduled an appointment in a couple of Saturdays and told me to bring a copy of what ever this TSB thing was and they will help me out.

Is it normal that two dealerships service people don't know what service bulletins are? Grant they weren't mechanics and were the ladies answering the phone but they are the warranty and scheduling personnel....

Oh and the rude one told me they would need my truck for almost 8 hours to perform an ecm update, which I promptly laughed at.

TSB improves off the line feeling for sure. Still get the detonation sound when it double-downshifts from 6 to 4 (which bugs the hell out of me). Haven't had it on the freeway yet or hit the road that it always surges on but it's... snappier maybe?

No way 8 hours. I was out in 1.5 hours including 15K svc.

I had the first, at my local dealer, original TSB done in June of 2016. I did the same. I printed a copy and expected it to be done with my 5k service along with some warranty repairs. When I picked up the truck the TSB was not done. I already had a case with Corporate over some issues the dealer balked on repairing. Knowing my history with Corporate , I assume, within 2 days they called me and said they just received the approval to perform that TSB. My impression was that the dealers are the last to know. They were fully aware of my issues and seemed sympathetic. They just had no idea that the TSB was out. I had the same issue with my faulty resetting cluster. Even after providing them receipts and dealer names from other members they did not know it was an issue. The rev 1 update was done without any issues. I am waiting a few weeks to be sure my dealer has the update before getting it done. Mine shifts pretty good since rev 1 December 2017. I believe many problems we deal with, which come to light in TW, are not widely known because Corporate tries to satisfy their direct complaints first. Then they eventually share the issues and fixes nationwide. So as much as dealers can be obnoxious and arrogant I do believe they are slow getting this info from Corporate. Other examples for me were bad factory tpms in 3 of 4 tires, bad squeaky body bushings on radiator support, entune update for constant rebooting, grease smear on driver glass with every up revolution, tranny TSB and low fluid as well as the cluster random resets. So far all has been fixed to my satisfaction. My body bushing was so squeaky I parked it for 11 days until Corporate agreed to fix it under warranty. Then it became a common repair nationwide. Be patient.

Does your dealer understand TSB when you say that to them? Both dealers asked what I was saying, so I said it phonetically and then added Toyota Service Bulletin and neither one knew what I was talking about and both asked if that was some sort or recall or email that is sent out to customers. I get them being last to know from corporate, my company is also bad for that, but not even knowing what a TSB is? Maybe we have lingo on the forum that isn't actually lingo to the dealers??

I worked at a Ford dealer in the mid-late 1970's. TSB was and still is Technical Service Bulletin. Sometimes also called a campaign. Any dealer in the USA knows what a TSB is. Well apparently not.
