Ha if only there was a chain of service centers specializing in maintaining our vehicles all across the continent where we could conveniently go to get stuff done without any runaround...

Anyone in Washington have the update yet?

I'm willing to do a road trip and make it worth your time.

Sincerely the 2018 OR owner without a computer.

I’m in Virginia if we can get something together I would be willing to try and travel/help out somehow. I don’t have a cable either though.

So I took my truck in today, ‘16 with 04B11. The dealership scanned with the Techstream and showed me the printout, and it did not have any update. Luckily the didn’t charge. Any reason for this?

I think someone else ordered one also. I believe that the link to download TS mentions that cable. Click on the link a page or two back and check it out.

It was recommended again using anything but a real Tactrix tool just because of potential damage when writing to the ECU.

Well I would think if it can successfully change something like a seatbelt chime it could write the ecu. I’m not too familiar with these things however.

I hear you. I have a five year old, $14 BT tool that I use with Carista. Changing a setting (a bit or two of data) is very different than writing 5mb into the ECU.

You make it up to the Twin Cities ever?
Literally (30 sec ago) just got told by the service writer the tech couldn’t get it to stumble/surge on the 1-2 shift. Said I was shifting at too low an RPM range. Pretty sure I know how to drive a manual, considering I’ve got over 100k miles of synchro, sequential, and non-synchro driving in the last 5 years. I chalked it up to a new truck breaking in/ learning a new transmission, but after 5k in the last 10 weeks I was starting to think I was crazy. Hopped in my 1st gen last weekend to go zip around for a bit, that just confirmed how funky this engine is for me. Might have to wait a bit longer for this unfortunately.

    That sucks!

The more I drive and read this thread, the more I am getting it to happen. Just plopping it in second at 2k and putting a smooth but aggressive bit of throttle gets it to happen every time. Same for the other gears, except maybe 6th because of the high load.

Rudy Luther in Golden Valley. Had a great experience buying there, and back when my work had Toyotas we used them with no issues. To be fair, I brought it in for the 5k Service and sprung it on them. Only saw the thread yesterday after I had already scheduled the appointment. The writer said I’d need to come back to get somebody to hook it up to tech stream, so I’ll probably wait it out for a little bit. Either that or hopefully @Shellshock makes a trip up here...

My appt is at 9:00 tomorrow and I’ll give you a shout as soon as I hear something. I’m not expecting much, but it’s worth a shot before I resort to buying a cable of making other arrangements.

My tactrix just shipped. Cant believe im actually happy spending the money. The feedback from others makes me think that the improved driveability is worth it.

Anyone in Miami or south Florida if you need your truck updated or are not having luck at the dealer, I would be glad to help with the update.
