What gear ratio are you at now?

I bought this real run-down-to-shit Miller 180 welder off some tweaker in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I restored it about a month ago.

Shit, are you serious? That thing looks like brand new, nice job! My buddy just gave me a brand new Lincoln flux core welder but I hate gasless, splatters like crazy. But it was free so can't complain. I haven't welded much so I didn't trust myself with that flux core to weld my steering shaft even though it was just a few tack welds. I think I would've done fine though if I did but it wouldn't have looked good.

I'm running 4:88, just got them put in last month. Can't believe I waited so long.

Test fit my 3rd gen 4Runner wheels. I know, super bald tires and really low pressure but I got what I needed out if my test. Backspacing. Been awhile since I could get more than my fingernail betwwen the UCA and tire. 0814181353.jpg 0814181354a.jpg
Also got a quote of $340 to powdercoat these wheels. Not bad, considering another place wanted $200 just to sandblast them. These are the closest I'll get to a set of SCS F5's so, its worth it to me. Guess I need to sell my 3rd gen SR5's to help finance this project.

That was gonna be my guess, it’s a tiny hose right in the very back of the intake.

I have to look but I don't think mine contacts that hose. That hose looks a bit too long some how to be honest. Not something I'd be concerned with though.

Good morning to the brain trust here at TW! Having a problem that is kicking my butt. My '01 keeps blowing out the low beams on my headlights. At the same time/instant I get a battery warning light and my panel lights get bright. Bulbs are blowing out together and have been replaced several times. I know about not touching the bulb during installation and that is not the issue. About 6 months ago I did the GM alt swap and life has been good for awhile. Now suddenly this... I have checked alt output for AC ripple (bad rectifier) and get nothing. Charge voltage is ~14.5V and I have a Yellow top Optima AGM battery. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I guess I would switch back to the original altoralter...

You would know where the problem stems from then.

If I had a Mig welder it wouldnt look like that for long. My Tig welder is all shiny new but it doesnt see much use.

Yeah its the only type of welding I went to school for. Built my sliders with it, took forever. I think I was burning 7018 rods towards the end of that project for times sake.

Dont worry there’s a lot more mall crawlers here then you. Even the ones that act like they aren’t. At least you put in work on your own truck.

It took a lot out of me. High school during the day and welding class from 6-10 twice a week. Learned a lot, but also learned its not what I want to do until I'm 65. Switched majors to industrial engineering and am much happier.

    Check Build thread
Well after lots of research I attempted to throw together a roof rack for my 1st gen DC. I would have bought one BUT prinsu or other companies don’t make them for the 4 door sadly. There are some things I would change on round two like slightly bigger sides.

The curvature of the roof was hard to follow because it is flat on the roof absolutely no where... some type of angle on the whole thing making it harder to get a flush, close to the roof rack. The middle crossbars are 80/20 aluminum but they didn’t sell the size I needed so I ordered larger, measured, and tapped the holes with threads.

    Anyways... here’s the pics.

Looks good, Prinsu is now selling them for 1st gen double cabs. But hey, you probably saved a few bucks anyway.
