I would consider a Ranger Raptor with a Twin Turbo V6. Of coarse that wouldn't happen. :anonymous:

    http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2018/08/14/2019-ford-ranger-priced-at-25395-order-books-opened.html

Ford has released pricing and opened the order books for the 2019 Ford Ranger, with deliveries set to kick off early next year.

The base 2019 Ranger starts at $25,395. (Ford)

The revived midsize model is returning to the brand’s American lineup for the first time since 2011 at a base price of $25,395.

The Ranger is launching in trim levels – XL, XLT and Lariat – and will be offered as a SuperCab with a six-foot bed and a SuperCrew with a five-foot bed. All models come with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 10-speed automatic transmission and either a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain.

The FX4 package adds off-road equipment to any 4x4 Ranger. (Ford)

For the inevitable comparison, an F-150 SuperCab 4x2 starts at $33,285, but a single cab truck can be had for as little as $29,200.

A top-of-the-line Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew starts at $39,480 and can be loaded up to over $43,000 with functional options that include adaptive cruise control and an FX4 package that’s equipped with an electronic locking rear differential, skid plates and off-road traction management systems.

Power, payload and towing specifications for the 2019 Ranger have not yet been released.

Honestly, I’m surprised Ford didn’t offer a long bed with their full cab.

The Ranger will be available with two cab configurations, SuperCab and SuperCrew, and with three trim levels, XL, XLT, and Lariat. Stepping up to SuperCrew for the XL costs $2200, while it's $2175 more for both the XLT and top-level Lariat. Four-wheel drive is a $4000 option for XLT and Lariat, and a $4160 option for XL.

A Ford spokesperson provided us with a breakdown of base prices for each Ranger model, including a $1095 destination and delivery fee:

    4x2 SuperCab

    • XL with 6’ Box: $25,395
    • XLT with 6’ Box: $29,035
    • Lariat with 6’ Box: $33,305
    4x4 SuperCab

    • XL with 6’ Box: $29,555
    • XLT with 6’ Box: $33,035
    • Lariat with 6’ Box: $37,305
    4x2 SuperCrew

    • XL with 5’ Box: $27,615
    • XLT with 5’ Box: $31,210
    • Lariat with 5’ Box: $35,480

I know it would be different, my point is look at what happened from the 2nd gen Tacoma to the 3rd as far as the transmission goes. I doubt it would shift any different if they went to an 8 speed simply because it is all a push for better gas mileage.

Edit: I'm most interested in the power numbers, if it is anything like the one in the Explorer, MKC, or Mustang then that will be pretty exciting. Other than that I don't love the looks.

Why not compare to a trd or though since it has a locker? Why not start with a base ranger that competes with the Sr and compare those?

It's still a part in a Ford vehicle (this will be abundantly clear if you ever buy the pretensioner from the dealer, with 300% Ford markup...). It's a lapse in Ford's quality control system and supplier oversight. No automaker manufactures everything in-house.

I started with an XL Ranger and applied the options that were desirable to me, just like I did with the Tacoma.

The end result for the Tacoma was the XL 4x4's starting point.

Like I said, this was not a 1 for 1 comparison. I am not knocking a better equipped truck for being more expensive. I was simply looking to see what value the STX FX4 might provide. Hoping that it could offer TRD O/R capability at a lower price and it didnt.

I am simply comparing the Ranger I was interested in to the Tacoma I was interested in. I knew they would not be comparable in price and equipment. I simply wanted to compare how different the price would be.

I am not an automotive magazine, ranking or complaining here.

I have company trucks that get swapped every year. Had an 8 speed auto in the ram 1500 and hated it. Got this f150 with a 10 speed and was thinking it would be even worse. Turns out it's awesome. Don't knock it until you've tried driving one

So the dozen manufacturers that used Takata air bags all agreed to say fuck it they are good enough?

^Yep. You can bet all the automakers either OK'd Takata's use of the ammonium nitrate propellant composition when the cars were designed, or didn't know any better themselves.

Lariat and above is for the boss. Real workers buy XLT 302A. I see they even have that as the top package exactly like on an F150 lol.

    Just bugging you of course.

True story, GM liked the 10 speed Ford transmission they negotiated a deal to use it with their new boosted 2.7 L that’s going in their half tons. That’s the short of it anyways, the design work was actually a joint project between a bunch of manufacturers.
