SPDT on-off-on switches are easier to find. Is that an option, or must it be on-on?

 

Either will work, you just need to understand what your switching.

 

It must be on/on and I've never heard of a double throw switch capable of on, off & on... wouldn't that be triple throw?

In simple terms, rather than using your finger to flip the DT switch you use a ST switch to make a relay act like a DT switch

Hey soo has anyone removed the abs sysyem completely and found a way to make all the lights go away?? My abs system has been dead for almost 2 years. I was hoping the lights would have burnt out by now

 

Lol, who would be dumb enough to do that if you can just install a kill switch??

Just yank the LEDs from your cluster if you don't wanna fix it properly

 

Don't you have tonsplit the cluster open to do that? If never been a fan of disassembling gauge clusters. Just figured I'm not using nor will I ever use the system again might as well take it all out.

 

Yes you would have to but short of that you could also take it out, pop off the clear screen and place some electrical tape over the lights

Well yeah definitely is half assed (just like not fixing your ABS) that's why I suggested pulling the LEDs. Not that big of a deal. Just mark needle positions b4 you pull those off.

I'm aware of your original question but the ABS is deeply integrated with wheel speed sensors, the ECU and speedometer, and I can guarantee you that rebuilding the entire brake system without ABS but all other functions intact is going to be more involved and expensive than fixing your ABS.
And wouldn't you rather go the easier cheaper way that also gives you ABS when you need it?

 

That's the best part about a manual the speed sensor is gear driven in the tcase. So when I ripped out the entire rear abs harness as well as damaged the sensors all that happened was the dash lights came on. I then no longer had issues with the system during the cold season. So it was left. Now I'm bored and wanna get rid of the lights and figure since the system hasn't been operating in two years it's probably not gonna work right if I fix it not to mention my suspension travel exceeds the harness length and extending it will probably just get it wrecked again. I don't need abs that's kinda my point. Just was curious if anyone had nade the effort. I've asked the SAS guys the same question. It's possible I saw a write-up but it's been devoured in the endless archives of various forums

 

Sure, anything is possible. You'll need the EWD and then you can figure out how to trick your ECU into thinking that the skid control ECU is happily working away.

While you're at it you can then also run new brake hard lines and remove the whole ABS pump assembly and free up space for a second battery or a toaster or whatever your heart desires

This actually inspired me to use a factory VSC off switch I had laying around. Wired up a 5 pin relay this weekend only to find out the stupid switch is momentary! Now I have - for the time being - the ugliest toggle switch operating the relay.

Is that switch you posted really An on/off type?
Or any wizards out there know how to operate a relay with a momentary switch?

 

ya, unfortunately the CH4X4 Switch is on/off. i ended up using an on/on from Grainger. maybe someone smarter than me can help with the relay

 

No the relay isn't the problem. Thanks, you answered my question. I'll be able to use the CH4x4 switch. The factory VSC switch which I have is a momentary so it doesn't work . Unless I wanna hold it down all the time haha
