@bshammer0 , Have you been driving your truck in "S6" vs "D"? Is the transmission not rushing to get to 6th gear? Your post said "per user manuaI" but have you tried it?

In my current '08 4.0 I drive it in 4 around town & once I get on the highway I drive it in "D". Especially with running 285/70r17"s

The 2018s don’t have the new software version. The update is completed per a T-SB direction. Until someone purchases the vehicle and has the T-SB completed it’ll have the old ECU calibration.

I have been tuned for the last year so it hasn’t been an issue but before that, yes I drove exclusively in S-mode to minimize the quick upshifts and it did certainly help. I did S6 sometimes but more often than not would lock out 6th with S5

Probably be a good idea to hace the TSB ready when purchasing the truck. Or, they may say that I need to have the symptoms first. May get lucky.

With what I’ve read these 3rd gens cruise just fine in S5.

Yeah get the TSB applied and the problems with D aren’t as much of an issue at all
