As Zane said, the rack is centered and the exposed threads on each side are similar.

I was more curious as to why there was such a difference in the number of threads showing if it's even side to side.

Must be a difference between the 555 and OEM tie rods.

 

I would guess that. Mine are like yours with not that much thread showing and are OEM.

Depends a lot on load and whether there is an additional cooler. Even then the temps fluctuate quite a bit. 225°F is the upper safe limit. Even that is too high if it is sustained. If the fluid is going only through the radiator, fluid temps will typically be close to water temps in low load situations like highway driving.

On mine, with a cooler and during the winter, I see 120°F on the highway.

 

I wan gonna say, I dont like to be above 205 even for very long. Cruiser in heavy stop and go traffic only ever gets to 125 and pulling on the highway I saw 180 once. But it has a huge cooler

 

@m3bassman I don't think you will be able to get trans temps out of your ECU if its a '99. On a Tacoma, that only works on models '01 and newer.

 

It's sort of a crap shoot isn't it, the 4runner had better tech than the Taco ever did so it could work... maybe

 

Before I had the additional cooler I used to see temps higher than that a lot. Especially when wheeling.

 

No you can put in a gauge pretty easily, they make kits to tap into the fluid lines and provide a bung for a sender. That's what the cruiser has

 

Just make sure you buy all the tools. Once you have the tools its like a 400 dollar thing to do it.

I did the TB WP, VC gaskets, Tranny cooler, fushed the tranny and radiator and think it was like a grand or just over. Probably 11-1200.

 

The runner ball joints are slightly different and apparently have drawbacks of their own.
