Probably not, since it's a brand new model.

 

May be biased this being a Toyota forum and all...but the wife's T4R has around 103k miles on it and has not had 1 issue. Literally not 1. Only thing done to it are oil changes, brakes once, and tires. Not sure how reliable expoders are.

Sure the exploder will ride nicer, it's a bloated unibody car that's slightly lifted. It's got independent suspension all around. T4R has IFS with some rear. That being said I think the T4R rides very nicely in stock form. More truck like, but comfy.

T4R is also easy to work on if repairs are needed. Sure they don't get as good gas mileage or good as fast or handle as well, but the trade-off is reliability, ease of maintenance and repairs, and the fact that it's an actual body on frame SUV not a bloated car.

If it was up to me, it would be either a T4R, or a Highlander. But that is also me being biased.

But it's up to her, so whatever she decides to go with is what I'll have to "live with".

 

When it starts out at a reasonable price, yep go for it. But I have found that when they start screwing with things, it's important to show them that you don't need them. In the end I got my truck a little under invoice. At one point had two different dealerships requesting my truck, the second one knew the first also had one requested. The price was less out the door at the 2nd place and I used that info when the first started to tell me they didn't know what the price would be now because it was a new model year.

 

Pretty sure the ad description mentioned 'turbocharged'

The T4R comes straight from Japan. Maybe higher quality work there.

I managed to squeek out 16.5 MPG with the 6.2 on my last trip through NH. Lots of 55 MPH back roads with some 70 MPH highway runs between Boston and NH. Not too shabby for a 6.5k lb brick!

Going from the Tacoma to the F150 was night and day. The Ford had a very noticeably quieter cabin than the Tacoma. The F250 is even better, there's actually less engine noise in the cabin of the Super Duty.

No Ecoboost badges though, I'd be willing to bet it's just the N/A engine at that price point. I think the only Exploder you can get the 3.5 ecoboost in is the Sport and it has much different styling than the others.

Could be. Although TW has taught me that apparently badges are ugly and should be removed, so...

I averaged around 17-18 on the back roads between I-95 and Baxter, and South of Old Town averaged about 15. But we hammered down and did 90-95mph as soon as we got North of Old Town. Made a pretty decent dent in my average.

 

Looks good, I know I've read before who made that bumper. I can't remember, so who made that bumper?
