This is more of a specific incident than a "common pet peeve" and I've shared it here before, but here it is again...

One of the biggest annoying things about driving through the country and getting caught behind a school bus that drops every kid off at their house instead of one community bus stop. However, stopping for a school bus is the law and I have no complaints about that...

On this specific occasion, there was a woman in a late model Kia in front of me. I was on Swamp Road, which is two lanes going in opposite directions.

As if it wasn't infuriating enough getting caught behind a school bus in a no passing zone, this bitch would take opportunity to rummage around in the passenger side of her car whenever traffic came to a stop. This is fine, but when the bus dropped off a kid and started moving again, traffic would start moving again but she wouldn't. I tooted the horn the first time and may have had to do so twice to get her attention...

One time is excusable, and two times is obnoxious, but this bitch did it three or four times!

On one occasion, I had to lay on the horn to get her to move. After the third or fourth time, I'd had enough. I checked to make sure there was no traffic in the opposing lane, turned on my left signal, and floored it...

At this point, the woman got her head out of her ass and accelerated, albeit in an attempt to keep me from getting in front of her. I wasn't having it and cut in front of her. I could see in my rear view mirror that she was clapping sarcastically...

Nothing like this has happened since!

What would you have done if you encountered someone like that inattentive bitch in the Kia?

I'm embarrassed to say that this was another 2nd Gen RC 5-lug driver...

An older man in a red 2008ish Taco came to a dead stop in the middle of a busy road so he could text or otherwise play with his phone! Luckily this stretch of road had two lanes of traffic on each side...

I initially laid on the horn but ended up passing him on the left when the coast was clear.

When you lose your shit and flip somebody off because they antagonized you or otherwise did something stupid, and they get mad at you for getting that well-deserved middle finger!

One time I brake-checked some guy in an Altima for riding my ass, and he roared up next to me at the next red light and gave me the classic meathead "You got a fucking problem, bro?" treatment. I turned up Tom Petty and ignored him until the light turned green.

People who ruin a perfectly good vehicle, with bumper stickers, especially political bumper stickers...

FUN FACT: I use bumper magnets!

    Coal rollers!

I have a friend who found out the hard way that you never piss off someone with a diesel truck when you're driving an open vehicle like a convertible or a Jeep, or in her case driving any vehicle with the windows down (she was in a Lexus SUV).

The driver of the diesel truck was driving like an ass and may have cut my friend off. My friend flipped off the driver and got a face full of black smoke through her open window!

-Idiots (of a certain persuasion) who are in the left turn lane, who swing out right, almost hitting the side of your vehicle as you pass next to them in the straight lane because they're so afraid of clipping the island like they have a bigrig. Actual bigrigs don't swing into the straight lane like that.
-Idiots (of that same persuasion) who drive right in the middle of a residential two-way road, and will not move an inch as you approach from the opposite direction so you either have to pull over and let them pass, or you have to move very close to parked cars to avoid a head-on.
-Idiots (of all persuasions) who, when you practice courtesy by pulling over to let them through on a narrow road, don't even lift a single finger to wave thanks-just staring ahead with a general scowl on their puss.

One night when the road was wet a moron was tailgating me. The light a head was already a solid red, and there was a car in front of me. Guy rolls around the right of me wich is cool, there's plenty of room to do so, and people often will. Then he gets up about a block and pulls over. I stop and ask him what are you doing, it's completely illogical, what you just did. I explained I wasn't looking for any trouble, I was just wondering what he was trying to accomplish. Then he kept motioning as if was going to pull something from the console of his vehicle. I laughed at him, and kept the epithets to myself. Then he drove off in the direction from which he came.

I could sit here and list dozens of offenses which, by the way, I myself wouldn't ever do to someone else. But this thread does make me think about the fact that, half if not more of the drivers like these we encounter are making love to their cellphones, high, drunk, angry, sad, on the verge of losing their home, or sanity...going through a divorce, broke, uninsured...grieving, etc. etc. all of which could be manifesting handily into their awful driving behaviors.
But hey-I have health and chronic pain issues, and stressors etc. all my own but I am one who happens to "change-up" behind the wheel enough to treat driving seriously...for my safety AND theirs. A lot of folks luckily are like me out there. I see them too and am grateful we're out there being triple-defensive in spite of the knucleheads.

Then I would have just waited it out. A new and recent me just learned not get get all bent out of shape over dumb drivers. They’re stupid an I can’t change that, no point in getting mad at something you can’t control

That's one thing I will never do. Brake checking someone is just asking for trouble. A miscalculation by either party and an accident occurs. Not worth it. Now slowing down some is a different story. But never on the brakes

Charlie....you gotta chill brother. Too much frustration equals too much adrenaline coursing through your body which equals dead of a heart attack at 50.

I agree, but your area has far less vehicles than mine. I haven't had an incident on the road in a while, but this area is just far too congested...

What do you suggest I do to calm down?

I do it and we have some of the worst traffic in the nation. Just breath and focus on something else. You’ll do fine, stress is a killer. We’re number six https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...united-states-tom-tom-traffic-index/82108390/
