i traded in my 18 sr5 4x4 double cab for an 18 TRD Offroad 4x4 double cab. I put my shell on it. Lost 1/2 in the rear. Adding 265/75/16 Falken Wildpeak at/3 tomorrow. It sits too low. I would like to add at least 2 in the front and 1 to 1.5 in the rear. I’ve read articles all over the place. Don’t use spacers. Limits up travel and will cause ball joint issues. Other articles state don’t use front struts that have the adjustable c clips. It loads your springs and causes harsh ride quality. What do I do to get the small amount lift I’m looking for?

So far what you've read is correct, so you're on the right track.

Get bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners.

Set the front on the 0 clip, and get Old Man Emu (OME) 887 coils

For the rear, get a single 2" AAL.

@Wheeler's Off-Road Inc can get you a quote for all of this

Question for your answer. The TRD off road has Bilstiens on the front and rear. Can I run just the OME springs ?

Negative. It has the bilstein 4600. You'd be replacing it with the bilstein 5100 which are longer to accommodate the longer coil.

That's why I took the time to answer. I love it when people will do research and then make threads to ask specific, educated questions. Not just "I wanna lift mah truck lol what is the best 3" lift"

absolutely! I figured if I'm going to be a semi a-hole to people that don't try, I have to be supportive of those people who do the reading and make the effort.

Hey!! Thanks for your answer! I’m going to sneak in and ask.....

With a shorter 1-2” lift, are there any major drawbacks? Driveline vibes etc?

I’m debating staying stock to avoid all the “headaches” that may or may not arise with lifts. I know there are several when you get 3” + but was unsure about shorter

Whenever changing away from stock, there is always a chance for headaches to arise. You are correct in your thinking that smaller lift should have fewer problems.

That said, don't purchase a lift of any size with the mindset that everything will go perfectly because the chance of various vibes to happen is a real possibility.

There are always remedies for said headaches though, so if you're willing to be patient and work through them, you can have a nice lifted truck with no problems.

    thanks

I’m not ready for any headaches ATM so I’ll for sure hold off till I’ve got the time

What’s the consensus for ~0.5” spacer up front for leveling? (Nothing in the rear)

IMO you won’t notice a damn thing.

Plus you’ll need to put longer studs on your coilovers. 1/4” is the largest you can before swapping.

Trust me, I know the feeling! I wanted a lift but didn’t want headaches. I held off for awhile and then eventually caved. Couldn’t be happier.

One question I found online a set of OME 887 springs loaded with the OME shocks. Are the OME shocks any good. I was told several years ago OME shocks were made by Bilstien. This came from someone who works at a Name Brand aftermarket transfer case manufacturer

Update I went through Toyotec lifts and did the OME 887 front springs with the OME soft ride loaded front struts and OME rear soft ride shocks. Front diff drop and skip plate spacers and Toyotec 1.5 blocks. Installed it all. took the truck to my shop. Aligned the truck. I did a 200 mile plus road trip today. Ride is very good. Handles good too. I thought the stock TRD/ Bilstiens were good riding. Wrong. The size difference in the diameter of the shocks is night and day. Thanks everyone.
