Ok I'm going to say it.
    Don't hate me.
Why not wrap just below the vanes?
    No refletching.
Seems to me it would do want your wanting without the hassle..
    Nice bright orange
    :notsure:

    Like I said I don't know.

From what I've heard, it's easier to maintain your vanes with the wraps vs putting them directly on. I'm sure you could mount them that way to make your arrows more visible though.

I’ve always built my own arrows using blazer veins and a fixture and have never had a problem except for when you send the entire arrow through something hard like a foam target!

I have personally never wanted my arrows to be bright or solid colored. Yes the deer technically can’t see orange. What they do you see is five very straight lines in the woods which is very unnatural and catches their attention. Mine are camouflage and have no raps

I think its more the movement than anything. Scent, movement, and noise. Its funny watching them when they can see you but dont smell you and they stomp and snort around.

I usually hang my quiver from a hook on the tree. All it would look like to a deer is some lighter colored marks on the tree. My arrows are fletched with two whites and and orange with flo-orange nocks, or two orange and a yellow with either flo-orange or yellow nocks.

    Reasons:

#1. I want to see the impact.

#2. Helps me find the arrow quicker. That helps me determine if it was hit where I thought. 'Cause sometimes the eyes play tricks and #1, well wasn't where I "saw" it hit.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait till the weekend to re-fletch. Need more hours in the day....

Do you guys use lighted nocks? Nothing wrong with bright veins but a lighted nick will show the point of impact and be easier to find in the woods when tracking a deer.

They don’t affect arrow flight and I don’t ever shoot at deer without them. The arrows are hard to see in these fast bows so I love being able to see where the impact is. They are pretty cheap now also. I think Nocturnal are the ones I use.

I think you just convinced me. I hunt in a lot of CRP fields and when the arrow gets down in that grass it sometimes takes forever to find it. Especially when its almost dark. I can't wait to get in a tree! Summer sucks.

You will find the arrows so much easier for sure. I’m counting down the days myself! I’m in VA and we don’t have tons of big bucks but eventually I am gonna move to the Midwest and get one some of them big bucks!!!

I use typically on evening hunts. Again, not so much for point of impact, but for finding the arrow after the shot. Plus they are really great for watching arrow flight during practice. You should just see a lil red (or whatever color) dot speeding to the target.

Funny story. Two years ago on the first day, it's just barely shooting time which is 1/2 before sunrise. My son is in a ladder stand about 20 yards to my left. I usually take one or two practice draws to loosen up. Well, I had my FeatherMax which doesn't let down to easy. Arrow popped off the string, hit the stand, cartwheeled 18 feet down and hit the ground broadhead first with enough force that the Nockturnal nock lit up and started to blink. *Sigh* First day, 6:45am, and I have to lower my quiver, climb down, turn the nock off, put it in the quiver, climb up, pull the quiver back up. Sometimes I'm just glad to get the first morning along with all the miscues outta the way. :(

I live in Missouri but have not bought a Missouri tag in 20 years. Illinois is only 30 minutes away and there are tons of public land to hunt there. Hunted there since '93. Where in the midwest are you goin?

I've dropped my quiver 4 or 5 times. If I already have an arrow out, i just leave it. The biggest deer I have killed, I drooped my hat right after I climbed up in the morning. I left it because I was sweating and pissed off. 20 minutes later, I shot a 161 inch at 4 yards.

I noticed this too, he even uses 4 vanes instead of 3! Not going to lie, I want to try it!
Not to intersect your question, but I've lived in MI and have been interested in hunting in neighboring states. Any tips on Illinois?

It's costly but worth it to me. I hunt in far southern Illinois and the amount of public land is crazy. I have access to probably 50-60 thousand acres within 60 miles. All I can say is in my area you really need to be in or around a CRP field. Some of these are hundreds of acres and the deer may hardly ever leave them. Also, late season is better than the rut usually, just because the hunting pressure drops so much.
