Oh wow! I didn't think you could get the 3.5 EB in anything but the sport.

 

Especially since the air brake created by that camper shell would create the same amount of braking force as the actual brakes on a regular Tacoma...

Maybe you can't and it's just general dealer BS. "Some of these cars come with a boosted 3.5, so we'll just pretend that this one is too, to get people through the door"

 

I find someone going fast to keep distance behind, then match their speed. Problem is, it often seems to be lots of people going 100+ and I wasn't willing to go past 90.

I usually wait until somebody passes me, then I chase them. Same idea, really. I figure if they're in the lead, they're the one that's going to get pulled over. Has worked in the past; have had cops pass me with their blues going to nab the guy running lead.

Absolutely. Not jealous, though. That jiggly bed always annoyed me when I had my Taco. Now I've got a 3/4 ton suspension, so the passengers do the jiggling instead...

 

Had their “working man’s porter” up in Conway and it was pretty good.

 

LOL. Yeah, it does jiggle a lot. Oh well, hopefully the bed stiffeners will help with that.

 

I'm pretty sure @Noelie84 is correct. 3.5Eco is only available with the sport package. The base engine is the nonturbo 3.5 engine.

 

Not sure what's going on then, because the description said it was turbocharged... maybe it's not the EcoBoost "version".

Every time I buy a vehicle, I generally know more about it than the sales staff trying to sell it to me. They know enough about the vehicles to be dangerous. I think you can only get the 3.5 eb in the sport edition and it looks different than that one. Also, no leafy badges on the tailgate, I think the ad is generic and BS.

 

I run into the issue kind of often looking at tundras as well. Mainly smaller dealers, but occasionally the bigger dealers mess up too

 

Could be. Who knows. Only way to tell is to go there and look. I'm not too worried about it per say, since the engine isn't one of my "concerns". If it's the ecoboost, great. If not, then no big deal. Would it be nice if it was? Sure. Fuel economy is a good thing. But for the amount of driving she'll do it won't be a big concern.

She's going to physically look at it tomorrow. That much I know and was able to accomplish. She's going with her friend from work, who is also a kindergarten teacher, and she and the Mrs get along really well. Probably for a "comfort" thing.

She also found a white Sport at our local Alfa Romeo dealer. It's a tiny bit less, price wise, but doesn't have a few of the options that the Limited has, like navigation and front parking camera.

I told her that it was up to her. The more she looks, the more indecisive we get. Yeah, it's good to look around and see what's out there, but I think there needs to come a point that she makes a decision, or makes up her mind, and says "ok, it's between this one and that one, period". Hopefully going to the Toyota dealership tomorrow and seeing it in person, and driving it, will tell her if she likes them or not. Then it's a matter of finding which one she likes best.
