    I'd coat that entire truck with Durabak or Monstaliner and call it good (basically my plan for the 97 I just picked up).

    What is the difference between a shell and a topper? Are they different words for the same thing?

    I recently bought a 97 Tacoma (3.4, 5-spd, DLX Xtracab) and it came with a toolbox and a Brahma camper shell (or is it a topper?) like this one:

    (I believe this is someone's truck here, I snagged it from a google search, so apologies if it's yours)

    It is presently white, has a rough finish (as in, factory intent was for a rough finish), needs rubber, and has lichen and little trees growing all over the surface of it. Time with a pressure washer and some cleaner ought to solve that. I will then paint it with Forest Green smooth, UV-stable Durabak, rolled on to match the truck. It wil be permanently installed on the truck soon thereafter (I'm not a fan of truck boxes in general).

    Yea it was pretty steep, but I’m planning to drive this thing until the wheels fall off. Idaho tacks on 6% in sales tax too, so that usually stings a bit (try 6% on the vehicle purchase ).
