Am I too old to own a Tacoma?

You're never to old to own a Tacoma! I'm 29 years old, and my Taco was a gift from my dad when I finally got my learner's permit at the age of 20! I even took the driver's license test in it!

I couldn’t agree more!! I came from a RAM Hemi and hate the Tacoma transmission. I love everything else about the Tacoma, including the smaller size. I’m making an appointment to have them do the TSB on the transmission. In the mean time, I found that turning the ETC on helps give the Tacoma some life. I think I’ll be a Tacoma owner into my 70’s.

 

Stick shift or slushbox?

 

Auto. I’m so disappointed I didn’t wait to find a similar equipped OR with a manual tranny. When I replace my 2018, I am getting a manual.

 

Maybe you should get an Oldsmobile.

For an automatic stop driving in "D" - shift down a gear or two for anything below 50mph - Tacoma is much more responsive in the lower gear. I've seen a slight improvement in gas mileage as well. What we really need is "Paddle Shifter" on the steering wheel.

 

I am 56 and have owned several Toyota Trucks. First one was a 1977, I bought in 1981. Now I drive a 2015 MGM Double cab TRD Off road. Never too old.

 

Had a 1970 Olds 442 with an automatic transmission. Prior to that a 1967 Chevelle SS 396 with an automatic. Both ran like a striped ass ape. Would love to have them back.

Never too old for a Tacoma.

However, once you turn 24 you're too old for a Civic (or any other car like it) with a big loud muffler.

 

It is tough being sooooo much cooler and wiser. I try to downplay it to make them more comfortable
