Exactly. I looked on the site and saw this as well. Doesn't make much sense. lol I'm not knocking the product, or saying that it doesn't work, but it would be nice to know what to expect when purchasing. It would be nice to see different graphs to give everybody an idea based on their mods as well. For Example: Stock NA vs Stock NA w/ tune, Basic boltons (headers, exhaust, intake) NA vs Basic bolt-ons NA w/ tune, stock s/c vs stock s/c with tune, etc....

 

Yeah, that's the way I was understanding as well. Personally, the "butt dyno" is not enough justification for me to dump $500 on a tuner. It'd be nice to have some facts to back up the product.

@redtaco2007 there is more than just hp and tq. my truck runs smoother, it has better throttle response. this may seem strange but is sound a little quieter. my truck is manual and i am making smoother shifts with the tune. the lower % throttle lag is not there, it is nice, smooth, and consistent curve. the top end is better. it pulls above 4k rpm. before it was flat above 4k almost falling on its face. the lower rpm range is nicer as well. about 1.8k to 2.3k ish range, is actually usable. i have 33's so my truck would bog bad. now i can keep a higher gear when slowing without a stop. before it was an awkward down shift for 300- 400 rpm then shift back up.

 

Any ideal of how long it will be till you are able to send tunes out?

 

Sure, all that would be ideal. I too was hoping to see many dyno graphs. But right now there's not enough people that have this tuner and got their truck dyno'd to see what kind of consistent gains are to be had and with what mods as far as end user experience goes. I don't think Mat has the resources right now to make comparisons between all those combinations. Anyone that buys this tuner right now are early adopters, maybe early majority. I probably wouldn't buy this tuner if I was completely stock but I've heard nothing but good things from those that are. For me, considering all my mods, the price, and what I get with this tuner, I think it's worth it.

 

@rheath08 I know feeling the change is believing, but id still prefer to see various dyno sheets before purchasing. Creating a tune that simply maximizes hp/tq is not necessarily what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a better average hp/tq, creating more area under the curve meaning you are maximizing the most power for all RPM ranges.

 

@JWL I completely agree. Like i said before, I am not knocking the product at all whatsoever. And I know there is definitely a higher benefit to those that are heavily modded or boosted. I'm just curious to see what it looks like for Stock NA, as that is where I currently am. I'm still very interested in this tuner, as down the road I plan on headers and an off-road Y, gears and some other stuff. I was just hoping that having this tune on stock NA would justify some of the cost, realizing that the real utilization for the tuner would be down the road after mods are complete.

 

You should definitely wait eventually I'd imagine there will be more tangible data available. I have been ready to go ahead and order for some time. Mat does a lot of great work with many other vehicles and I trust his expertise. Worth the price of admission to me right now.

 

That’s pretty much what I have except the gears. The URD Long tube equal length headers will give you more torque across the rev range which is what I was looking for. I also have the y pipe and 3 inch exhaust and AFE intake. 12” vibrant resonator because it’s raspy at times.

 

Question for ya, with the headers and Y pipe and no cats, were you able to avoid the check engine light by utilizing CEL eliminators (or spark plug antifowlers) on the downstream 02s? I am running catless on my boosted Xb, witha CEL eliminator and have no problems passing emissions tests as its simply a Emission monitor scan. yes, unfortunately I live in an area that still has emissions testing

 

I believe the dyno posted on the OVTune website link shared above belongs to Murphinator and he gave a review of his thoughts along with that same dyno in this thread. Along with his dyno, there is another thread with a guy who saw a 20HP increase with supercharger handheld flash tune over the TRD tune. I dont recall what the TQ numbers were.

I'm also boosted, but my dyno only showed a 5HP / 8TQ increase for OVTune over the TRD tune:

For NA, I havent seen anyone willing to dyno just a preset flash tune for a stock motor. It would be interesting to see for sure.

 

Thanks for sharing the link to your dyno. Your AFR is dangerous and likely the cause of low power from detonation pulling ignition back, I had not seen that before or I would of said something.


For NA I no longer have access to the dyno it was done on. I've asked if someone was interested to bring a stock truck for fresh results.

 

I have the URD O2 simulators that eliminated my CEL. I’m in a state with no emissions so idk if it would pass lol

 

Thanks @OVTune. I actually sent you the dyno in a PM the same day I posted it in that thread. I've since did the FPR mod which made the AFRs on the rich side enough that I tried the smaller 2.5 pulley. They're now mid-high 10s.

No worries, thats understandable. I figured as much.

Like I mentioned before, I have a quick change pulley setup and am willing to take a road trip if you need a test vehicle for different size pulleys.

 

I'm in favor of that. 2.6 and 2.5 please
