My work recently upgraded the circuit for our incoming network and told me to check the speed... I don't think this is correct

We had 8mbs and it's supposed to jump to 50ish. The test errors out so it's def not 1.7gb haha, that'd be nice though!

I'm looking to get a dash cam too.

What brand/model do you have? Biggest thing I read about dash cams is overheating when sitting in the windshield/greenhouse. Especially in CO UV. Any issues?

Also how/where did you mount it?

    Thanks.

In my car I have a Viofo A119. It has a base with the gps module (can be used for speed/location/date if you choose) that I hardwired my power to that is attached with 3M adhesive. It's a wedge shape with an adjustable lens (side to side and up/down) so I mounted it to the right above my rearview. I haven't had any issues overheating, even though I use a reflective windshield thing when I park all day at work. The quality is pretty good overall.

In my truck I have the blackbox C1B which uses a suction cup and it's definitely shittier, the suction cup falls off 1x a month and the cam has loop recording but stops once the SD card is full. The date/time also reset every time it is powered off. The quality is adequate during day driving but pretty bad at night.

Thank you. I hate suction cups, especially in CO.

I always use sunshades so I'm hoping that helps.

With the Viofo, is it easy to download video footage?

I have a Compustar dash cam. Records motion and "events" like an accident or someone bumping into the truck while in parking mode. And records every 30 seconds for like 15 seconds unless manually recording. It also has a rear cam but since I have a tire carrier and RTT it's not connected. I might switch it to the car and get another just for the windshield of the truck.

I've had it over 2 years and no issues with overheating. I have it mounted in front of the rear view mirror with some double sided tape. It's never fallen off and stays pretty solid

I'm ASSuming that you can plug the camera in to your computer with usb, I usually grab the whole thing out of the quick disconnect, put the micro SD into a SD adapter, and plug it into my laptop. The files are all datestamped (you can set the recording interval for each clip, I think mine is like 5 min), and they're just mp4 or whatever so you can transfer them and play them on pretty much any device.

    Awesome. That's easy enough.

The day time footage you posted looks very adequate. How is the video quality for night time?

Yeah I was actually going to make a video using the recordings from my trip from Alaska through Canada and into Washington but I accidentally formatted the card when I thought I transferred the data.
I also had a recording at night when someone was walking around my truck with a clear shot of the dude.. couldn't tell what he was doing, didn't try to break in or anything so maybe he was just checking it out at 2am.

I've looked at some clips (caught my ex staking out my apartment :anonymous:) and the quality was good, it can be hard to read license plates depending on how the light hits them but that's true with most cameras. I can upload an example for you if you want
