Are any 76mm throttle bodies plug 'n play?

What’s the lifespan of ball bearings vs journal?

    Internal vs external wastegate?

Increase fuel pressure vs larger injectors?

My Jetta is an internal wastegate and the plumbing is what makes it superior to me. The boost is also ECU controlled with some tweaks using a MBC. For the Tacoma application I’ll need a solid actuator as well as a MBC.

Fueling needs to increase by as much vacuum and boost present. In/hg isn’t the same as PSI but it’s close. So overcoming a 10-15in/hg vacuum plus another 6psi you’d need a minimum of 1bar/14.7psi for the stock injectors to spray as they did in pre-turbo days. I’m thinking these pink tops are a surprise band aid for the real issue at hand. I would imagine fuel economy would increase should the fuel pressure be raised on stock injectors.

Or am I out in left field picking flowers...?

1.depends on the tune/abuse. typically bb will last longer but i would really just go with that anyways due to the performance benefit

    2. negligible

    3. larger injectors. they can flow more without being peaked and it keeps work down on the pump end.

an external wastegate can have very simple plumbing, obviously will be more obtrusive than an internal but they can be placed in better positions.

    Gotcha.

1-I plan on light abuse, no more than 10psi. But I’ll be making long road trips in this. 16+ hour trips on a monthly basis. Maybe I should just spring for the BBs.

2-I’ll do the the internal for ease of install since I don’t weld.

3-I’ll be swapping in another pump while I’m at it. I may just get a manual FPR and see how that goes before installing new injectors. New injectors would be on hand though.

Not sure, but I imagine so. They are between the V6 and the various 76 models. Might be the same.

I remember you saying you did/were getting a larger TB... is this what you decided on?

journal would be fine, but id go bb as well

either way youre going to need a tune somehow (unless youre hoping the stock ecu will trim the injectors appropriately) but honestly youre probably going to need injectors no matter at 10psi

WIth the pink top injectors and Intercooled, I was close to running lean (low 12's AFR) over 4500 rpm. I also used some 440's as well off the stock ecu for a bit. It was able to trim the fuel at idle and cruising speeds. Once it went into open loop, though, AFR's dropped to 10.2. A MAF Calibrator might have also be a cheap option to trim out some of the fuel from the open loop top end to gain some power.

Does this happen on the 5 speed models? How does heel-toe work if you can't hit the throttle with the brakes depressed?

It happens on the 5-speed, as I'm a 5-spd. When you heel-toe (which really can't be done right since the accelerator sits much further back, but I digress...), the clutch is in and you aren't accelerating. The ECU doesn't see this as an issue, and lets it rev.

Yes. I’ll have a set of whatever the commonly used ones are. No need to reinvent the wheel as I am just over thinking right now.

I see what you’re saying. On the low end it was lean and then open loop (lots of boost/WOT) it richened up a lot. If you a spark plug on the tail pipe you could could’ve shot out flames. LOL

All models after a specific year (whenever that idiot/patsy in Cali with the hybrid that said his car wouldn’t stop because the throttle was stuck open) received the pedal reflash.

To receive the TRD reflash, you HAD to get that reflash as well, on older models. Vehicles that went in for service would receive it as well, if they said yes and didn’t know any better.

Interesting. I have a 2010 and I'm pretty sure it doesn't do it, but that makes sense that the computer ignores it when shifting.
