Sorry! One question. Engine not running, but the key in the On position, key in the Accessory position, or key out? It thought the first situation was said earlier?

While you're plugging everything up don't even have the key in. Once you open the CUW file it will prompt you on the computer screen about what you need to do with the truck and what position to have the key in... Just plug everything up and run the file, the program will guide you the rest of the way.

I haven't tried it yet. I have one of the cheesy ebay/Amazon cables, and I'm not 100% confident in it's quality. When I get a few minutes, I'll hook it up to the truck and try changing a few customization settings and go from there.

This cable did work to delete and program keys from my '05 ecu, so it should be fine...

Question, what effect will this have at smog time. Seems to me if there is no tag showing the updated ECU from a dealer that you will be failed.

That doesn’t make sense man. It’s an update for the manual. It’s not some weird alteration of exhaust fumes like VW. You will be fine.

Isn't that sticker more for mandated recalls affecting the ECU?

P.S. Love that VT only has a MIL check and Safety Inspection. Made using my Accessport on my Legacy GT more enjoyable...:burnrubber:

I got ya, but Toyota wouldn’t just throw a fix together to make you fail an emission test. If that is the case, take it to your dealer and make them sort it out. A 3rd of any year has no business failing an emission test unless you are dumb enough to delete your cats or something.

Also, if you check the thread for the AT tsb 62, some dealers dont put that fancy sticker under the hood stating its been updated per the TSB.

Worse case replicate a sticker and copy the text from a picture of a stickered truck.
A dealer can forget to note it down on the service records as well....

I asked the tech upon the update about the new sticker and his reply was "those things? I don't even know the last time we actually used them"

Just curious, how was it known that T-0033 is for 16-17 trucks and T-0037 is for 18 trucks? Not doubting, just curious how this was determined.

Anybody use the cheap Amazon cable yet? And are people paying for the tech stream subscription to get the files or using the free stuff?

Because when I downloaded the files from TIS, that was the way they named those files for those specific trucks. On 2nd note, when you installed Techstream, run CUW.exe it's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Toyota Diagnostics\Calibration Update Wizard\cuw.exe then click on file open and select the cuw file that I posted, you'll see what year the file is for. For example I clicked on 34-18 file it showed for 16-17 Tacoma AT

So summary is file 33-18 is for 16-17 MT
    34-18 is for 16-17 AT
    36-18 is for 18 AT
    37-18 is for 18 MT
