Haven't checked up on this thread in a while. Anyways, this past year the guy I work for also bought a Specialized dealership. So he was kind enough to let me try a Levo e-bike. Any of you guys own or ride one? Pretty sweet! I couldn't believe how hard that electric 'assist' pulls when it's fully turned up. I just rode it on some easy trails and road, so not sure if I would like it on the technical stuff (it is heavy). But still a super cool bike. At some point, I may end up buying one. My Stumpy is still good for now though. Just thought I'd share.

    Yeah.
I think the street ones are cool for using as transportation or on paved trails, but all the comments I hear on the MTB ones are about them being too heavy to really enjoy on a proper trail. For hard-pack smooth trails, the street ones would probably be fine. If I lived in an urban area (yuck), it might actually be my primary mode of transportation.

The shifter (and brake, if you have cable brakes) works by pulling the cable AND pushing the housing. Action and reaction. If the ends of any section of housing aren’t held in place by what you call the nubs, the cable won’t work, because the housing just slides instead of the derailleur moving. So if the housing seems too short, it’s not secure and that’s the problem. Zip tying the outer cable (housing) is fine to keep it from flipping around, but you can’t rely on that to constrain it for shifting.

I don’t own an e-bike but have ridden lots on the streets and one or two dual-suspension 27.5+ e-bikes on singletrack. They are lots of fun ... especially on technical uphills or mostly level trails with lots of rollers and shirt climbs. Downhill, yeah they’re heavier, but not that much and anyway I’m not a fast descender.

I agree. They would be amazing as a commuter bike or for smooth trails. I liked it for the trails that I tested it on, but for some of the gnarly stuff that I take my Stumpjumper on, I'm not sure. I feel like I would for sure

I thought the Levo felt way heavier than my Stumpy but regardless you make some good points. It was pretty sweet.

Longer cable housing fixed it! Do you think this is too slack though? I was being conservative with the housing length.

That IS clean! For me. Lol. I need better tools. I usually just clean it with a bunch of paper towels and degreaser/wet lube.

I’d assume that with no weight on it, the rear suspension is topped out so it won’t use any more cable slack. You could pull the shock and see if the cable bunches up too much at full compression, but it looks fine.

And finally, here's my rather unorthodox but very Tacomaworld-ey way of getting my shock to fit....

Im going to try to flip it around the other way so the shock body is on top, I will have to see if it makes contact at all.. still waiting for the paint to dry.

This one is adjustable for 26-29" bikes, looks cool, works great, no rattling......have a coupla these on our greenbelt bikes. Comes with mounting plate in the pic but also short bolt to use without the top plate if your frame already has a plate with hole. Trying to find the name of it.......

Here ya go........Pletscher Zoom ESGE Adjustable - comes black or silver but foot part is still black

    20180624_132144.jpg
even put one on my electric bike frame, rigid, flared drop bar, staggered wheelset, disc, dual singlespeed, confused WTF bike...............fun ass ride, has 34/13 or 34/16 gearing, manually swappable by adjusting chain tensioner and moving chain to whichever cog. Just a 5mm allen on the tensioner to move it back and forth.....just no shifting while riding, lol.

Well not a mountain bike I just bought this on a whim to relive my childhood. 50th anniversary 24" Skyway frame, forks, bars and graphite tuff wheels. Jeebus, I forgot what a mother a 1 speed bike is. A lot of fun going downhill, not so much coming back up!

    Yeah.
Dude! That is awesome, I was looking at those last year as well (for the same reasons). Had a Mongoose (pre-Walmart Mongoose) frame and tuff wheels as a kid, thought about building one up for fun and saw this same setup. 24" wheels?

I just ordered a cheap shit one off ebay, fingers crossed it remotely works lol. If not, I'll spring for something better. The reviews on Amazon looked good at least.

I've noticed Amazon has lots of "branded" items that you can buy the generic versions off of ebay for a little cheaper.

I always felt like a kickstand wasn't often seen on MTBs b/c they get in the way but no doubt I'd love to have a kickstand at times...

If my bike weren't also a commuter I would def go the no kickstand route, but I need to park it in the garage with another mtb, two cars and a motorcycle. It's a tight squeeze. Sometimes I make quick stops to the post office, etc. as well so the kickstand is beneficial.
