Seems like a few people including myself had the 77-16 tsb noted on our service tickets but may have actually gotten the b0400 (for 2017 models) calibration. I verified I did so not sure why they are noting the old tsb.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, the Tech showed me their software always installs the latest calibration id available and isn't capable of flashing an older one since it checks directly from Toyota's servers. I seen it myself.

Might be best to verify with an obd reader for piece of mind though.

Aahhh, I see. I didn't even think about looking at your second set of numbers since no one uses that to figure out what flash they got. Would be interesting to see what you got but the 58 or 62 flash is noticeably smoother in shifting and smoothness. The 77 flash didn't address those things although reflashing the ECU would start the learning process all over again giving you a different feel than what you had when you dropped the truck off

My 15k service and asked for the update to be done, I handed the printed TSB. 2 hours later, the service advisor said it was done and I should be pleased. This was the first time they had done it.

I have not used ECT since I left the dealer, which is 2 hours away and 3000' higher up. WOW! What a difference! Very impressed.

Thanks to all that have posted information about this TSB.

Maybe 77-16 paid them more than the 20 minutes 62-18 calls for

I have said this before on here. I know a lot of y'all has said that the 58 and 62 is much alike. I try to push the dealership to do the 62 but the advisor told me that we can't, cause we do not live in a altitude area. Dealership make it seem like 62 is sooo special lol

@Raistlen0 as a strange side note, unless your truck was manufactured as an early model '17, I think most Tacomas produced in '17 and everything after that already had the 77-16 TSB applied to it (04B03) and not eligible for 77-16.
As a curiosity I wonder if yours and the others that noted 77-16 being performed were early model builds (04B02) and eligible for 77-16 but because 58-18 and 62-18 are the newest TSBs they are flashed in place of 77-16 as that is possibly obsolete

Ask them if they understand how roads work, and that the one outside the shop is connected to others that lead to higher elevations.

Got mine updated last night during 20k service. 58-18 was used (assuming it was because mine was a 16 not an 18). Felt much better just driving out of the lot, quicker response. Drove some highway last night also, used cruise and didn't have any jumpy shifting, seemed very steady. Also had them change blinker to 5, turn off seat belt and door chimes. 1.5 hours.

I'm in PA and as i was talking to service we discussed the TSB's and they were well aware of the issues, especially the 2016 models. They mentioned that the 2018's did not have the issue but I kindly told him that was not the case and to prepare to flash those as well with the 62-18 TSB. He seemed surprised.

Very happy so far, will update further as I put more miles on it.

Just dropped my truck off to have the 62 Flash done. Even though I live in the valley I go to Tahoe a lot and experience the delay in acceleration at all elevations (I do experience it more at elevation though) I handed them the TSB we’ll see if they actually do it for me.

On a side note, my service advisor told me when writing me up that a national recall was just announced on the Tacoma’s. Even though I don’t have this problem I guess HVAC system blowers have been cracking? Maybe I missed that thread but thought I would mention it here. My advisor said he replaced three blower fans on Tacoma’s this week. So he also added me in for the recall work as well. He wrote the recall up as “Perform Service Campaign JON-HVAC Blower Motor”. Sounds like parts are just now starting to go on national backorder according to him so if you have this issue get in quick.

Just got the T-SB-0062-18 done at Price Leblanc Toyota in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Brought in the printed TSB and told them that I just returned from Colorado Mountains, where I had the “stumble”/delay at WOT. And told them that I was going back to the mountains next week. Done in 1.5 hours, drove home (5 miles) with smile, improved throttle, and improved shifting. Checked the version with my OBD reader at home just to make sure it was updated. All good!

I had mine done at in Irvine Toyota in Southern California. No questions asked. I just handed them the print out and said I would like this done, when I went in for my 15k service. What a great improvement.

Just curious, what do you use to check version? You mention its an OBD reader but is it a phone app or on your computer?

I just got off the phone with a service "writer" at Jones Junction in Bel Air, Maryland, named Danny and he told me that all I need to do is say I was having trouble with it stumbling (the transmission) while I was out in Western Maryland (our Appalachian Mountain region) doing some hunting spot scouting, and they would run the flash on the ECU for the TSB.

I'm coming up on my 20k mile service and wanted to be sure I was going to a dealer to have it done that would cooperate with me on this.

I'm hoping I don't get any grief about my K&N intake.
