They look damn good in person too, pictures don't do these tires justice.

It’s true. Guys like you convinced me to get them. I was skeptical at first because they just don’t look that aggressive in pictures but they are. I’m glad I did and agree that the eBay coupon is the way to go. I’m hoping to get some Pro wheels unless I can convince some Pro owner that he doesn’t need those awful looking wheels! LOL

So jelly, but I think I'm going to wait on my stock tires to die on me first, before getting these. Saving up for Te37x wheels at the same time.

I wonder how much it costs to paint a Tacoma. Maybe $3000?

You will like them. My favorite part of these tires is that I had no negative impact from stock. I really have been impressed with them in the wet the most.

I swapped mine because I kept getting flat tires are on the stockers. Waiting them out is certainly the more financially prudent choice. I just got fed up.

I am trying to decide if I want 265/65/17 XL
    or
    265/70/17 SL

Besides the size difference, can anyone give me an idea of what difference I'd notice on the XL vs. SL?

XL is heavier than the SL & has more towing capacity. Unless you're going to be towing, I'd go with the SL.

Actually, the Falken website has the XL list at 42lbs and the SL listed at 47lbs... we aren't comparing the same size though. The XL tire is the 265/65 while the SL is the 265/70.

Do you think I'd get a noticeably stiffer/rougher ride or more noise with the XL over the SL?

Not too sure, I've driven SL tires and they are super quiet. Not sure about the XL's, but I can't imagine them being too noisy.
