Gee bro, what is this a footloose movie? , I didn’t realize I was in the super serious section. Perhaps there should be a goof section and a section for folks who have their panties in a twist. You don’t have to click the thread and keep posting if you don’t like the subject.

It bothers me to see businesses or people take advantage of people... in this case outlandishly. I commend the OP for shining some sunlight on this particular dealership’s obviously shady practice.

Thanks pal, I was beginning to think I was the only one who was bothered with this kind of shady dealer tactics.

How are they taking advantage of anyone? This is a private enterprise and they are allowed to ask whatever they want for their product. I would maybe agree if they had a monopoly and you couldn't get this product anywhere else but this store. But since that's not the case I don't see a problem with them asking whatever they feel like asking. I know if I ran a business I would try to get as much revenue as I could out of it. I am sure most people on here feel the same way. Pretty sure most people shopping in this segment know that's an outrageous price for those wheels so I doubt anyone truly would be taken for a ride here.

I would simply offer them something like $700 for the wheels and go for there. The fact the Vin starts with 3 bothers me more than the crazy wheel price.

Maybe you should have done so with this thread. Congrats on losing the energy that you other things in your life probably needed.

I feel like it should be obvious that this is a shitbag sales tactic. Let’s say someone walks in and wants this truck and it’s the only one on the lot. Well, the buyer has a choice to walk or be bent over and pay literally a 400 percent markup on a set of wheels that they could walk into the parts department of same exact dealer and pay 800 bucks for. So, they are preying on the fact that either someone will reeeealy want that truck and they can f&$k them really hard on a set of wheels or they are preying on the fact that someone just may not know that they are getting screwed on a set of wheels. Sure, nobody is required to buy the truck, but the dealer absolutely knows that they are attempting to lay the pipe to some poor guy’s bootyhole. To those with scrupels, it should make you disgusted. If it doesn’t, then it means you would probably be the one trying to screw someone over. I think we can identify a few of you that that keep a bottle of KY in your pockets in case you get the chance to screw someone over.

Also, if you ran a business like this, you would lose business. Sure, people can set their own price, but when it lies so far above what the market can bear, then your competition would get the sale, not you. This is why I went to a reasonable dealer to buy my truck that didn’t play these shit games.

I think we need a support group for people who’s lives are so pathetic they need to post crap like this. I bet you aren’t even trying to make a deal at the moment and are just posting so you have something to talk about.

No no no, a hobby is never a waste of energy. I enjoy finding what makes people do the things they do.
I still don’t understand the point of the thread.
The Dealership is pricing items directed at a segment of the population that obviously makes impulse decisions same as a lot of businesses. The OP see's it and gets angry ???? Why? If the Dealership is pricing itself out of the market (which it obviously isn’t) it would go out of business, which it won’t.
So why get all worked up about it ?

The dealership probably is pricing itself out of the market to a degree, I kind of pointed that out earlier about the lost sale. I wouldn’t say I’m “worked up” about it. I view this more as a post about public awareness of shady practices, because here are probably some folks out there who aren’t aware that dealers try this shit, those same folks might do some pre purchase research before they buy a truck and may find this post informative. I really don’t see this much different than reviews on yelp (except I didn’t say which dealer it was because there are some fanboys on here who would for sure get twisted up). So the goal is to inform the uninformed. I don’t see anything wrong with that, but a lot of folks seem to get twisted up that I posted an opinion that is different from their own. (Warning-if this is you, you may be a liberal )

I've seen people complain in the what did you pay thread for talking the dealership down. I have no problem working the dealership down to the lowest price possible because of tactics like this.

A dealership like this preys on people who come in buying based on payment and couldn't care less what they end up paying for it in the end. It bothers me. But it's not my money. However, I would be less likely to use a dealership known to do this. I would have doubts about where else they are marking up things sky high.

This exactly. And that’s why I went to a different dealership. Hopefully everyone is this sensible then maybe dealerships would try to be more honest and transparent. Hell, they might even profit more by selling more units instead of trying to price gouge unsuspecting customers.

I tried that yesterday at the Toyota dealer. Have a non sunroof offroad with a spacer lift and some wheels and tires for 50k. Which I said hmm... why is my truck not worth what I’m asking?
