    Hi All,

I've spent over an hour browsing through the forum but I didn't really find what I'm looking for.

I would like to purchase bed crossbars that would allow me to mount a pop up tent, but I would like the tent to be flush or lower than the cab. I'm not worried about high clearance to load stuff in the bed, it's mainly just camping gear, coolers, etc anyways. I would also like these bars to be compatible with typical bike/snowboard thule carriers. on top of that, I need to get a bed cover so I need these racks to be compatible with that also.

TLDR: looking for bed racks that are not too high up to keep the tent flush with the cab, allow bike/snowboard carriers to be mounted on them when the tent is off, and allow a bed cover to be installed - I don't own one yet so open to suggestions. I don't care if the bed cover doesn't open due to low clearance, I can fish stuff out of the 5ft bed even if it's closed.

Links to a particular (affordable) set up will score you a few brownie points - and a beer if you live in Denver area :)

@Mobtown Offroad bed bars. They work with some tonneau covers, and the 80/20 extrusion should allow tons of mounting options for attachments. From the pictures I've seen, a RTT looks to sit close to flush with the cab.

Mr. Projekt - can you please send a link?

    shakerhood - looks slick!

Blackwolf - Mobtown Offroad bars look nice and are affordable too. The only issue is that the hard cover they are compatible with is like $1,000, which is way more than I'm looking to spend.

TailHook - do you use a bed cover with these?

TRD_QkSnd - would you recommend 'Tamper Resistant Screws with Wrench", or "Comfort Grip Knobs"? Also, they don't show the weight rating and don't seem to me as sturdy as lets say Mobtown bars. Do you have an experience with these and a tent with 2 people mounted on them? Also, do you know of an affordable bed cover that's compatible and relatively safe (will be carrying snowboards in the bed). Thanks!

I have the factory tri fold hard shell tonneau... im comfortable leaving gear inside with the tailgate locked however, if someone really wants to get in, they could. BUT, that can be said for any cover other than maby a diamondback, but im not paying 2 to 3k for a tonneau.

As for bolts... if you think you will take them off often, comfort grip is the way to go, for more security, go with tamper resistant... your preference.

The racks are designed for full use of a rooftop tent, not sure the exact rating. Pm @kbvoodoo and he can let you know.

My original intent was to use my rollup tonneau, but went a different direction instead...@KB Voodoo or @Mobtown Offroad is your ticket for bars with a tonneau.

Hmm, I was about to get Yakima Bedrock bars for $300. I'll have to see if a local fab option would be cheaper. I do like how the Yak's lock up, though.

I went overkill and used DOM which was really not necessary but still think I only had about $100 or so in materials.

If I go that route, I would probably use the same, but I'd most likely set the bar up an inch or two over the bed. I am planning on making a cheap bed cover for storage, unless I just end up getting a Yakima box to mount to the bars and call it good.

    Something like this:

Or if I want to get a little more fancy.

Welp, I figured out my bed cover dilemma. Time to go to the store and start getting materials, that will be way cheaper than a $500 bs vinyl cover they make.
I just want it to keep stuff relatively dry
