I just looked and saw that I am in for the blower motor also. Although, it said that mailings won't happen until September. I am wondering if parts might not be available yet.

    Poop.

I took my MT 2018 in this morning. They hooked it up to the techstream, and it said no update available. The tech drove it and confirmed the bogging into 4th and the "surging" I reported. He said there is nothing he can do, as the system shows no firmware available for upload...not for the 18s. He knew of the TSB and said it seems to only apply to AT 2016-17 he wasn't sure about '18MT, because he didnt know the Manual tranny part number. Can't get it into my '18 if he tried.
    Bummer.

Been stalking this thread and forum for a while...I will stay tuned....or maybe I will get OVtuned.

Does TechStream work for any Toyota? Might be worth getting a cable and TS so that I can mess with my wife's '13 Corolla too...

Sorry that this didn't work out. This won't technically help at your dealer since they tried, but there certainly is an update for the 2018 MTs.

You can see the MY below. Your ECU is 04A70. The update will make it 04A71.

I bought the tactrix since both my taco and 2002 lexus is300 have settings that can be changed. Also my dads lx470 has many settings. If i can stay out of a dealer, I'm happy. Buy the tool not the labor.

I am pretty sure a '13 corolla will benefit if you plan on doing DIY trouble shooting or repairs.

Yeah it is tempting to get, but I don't trust the TechStream off of certain sites too much. Definitely wouldn't put it on my main laptop. Is there a free VM software that allows passing through the USB port so I can hook it up? I have plenty of Win7 licenses I could load on there and then it would be segregated into it's own VM where I don't care too much if it has possible virus/malware.

I did find a clean version of techstream version 12.10

I can PM you the link if you would like. It did not play nasty with my firewall or have any surprises. It covers up to 2017 I believe.

I am unsure if using a VM would interfere with the adapter. If you have an old laptop, you could also use this without any internet connection if you would like.

I know not directed at me, but I am going to attempt to get the dealer to do this before using my own cable tomorrow, so I will provide an update on my success at that time. So far I have been pretty happy with the responses I have received from Toyota of Surprise which is where I go. We will see tomorrow if my luck with them continues.

I'll be happy to help anyone around here out. Even if I am successful at getting it done, I am happy to meet up and help someone who isn't so lucky with their dealer.

My appointment with the dealer in Tucson is on Friday. If it doesn't work out then count me in for an AZ meetup.

Took a good bit of discussion and determination to get them to update, but it got updated.

Yeah, my dealer is pretty cool. The guy knew what I was talking about and at first he thought the tech did the update because the tech was driving my truck...that was just to confirm the issue though...came back and said it was not an option. I did not sense that he was bullshitting me...my bullshit detection array is still in calibration.

If nothing comes of this, I might sack up and go for the OVtune...so long as I don't lose my ass in fuel economy...I really just want more responsiveness and a touch more low-end torque in 2nd and 4th....I couldn't give two shits about running 91 and getting blahblahblah.

They recalibrated it...they did not install the software update. Recal sets the memory back to factory default, so now the ECU will relearn. Sorry...looks like you're still in the shit with me

I appreciate everyone posting their work orders who have had this done. I know its probably not realistic, but what would really help the rest of us out is if the details of the new calibrations were listed on some of these work orders, like: "Customer complains of surging and referenced TSB-0058-18, which states for AT only. Techstream showed ECU update was available for MT. Replaced 8966304A7000 calibration with 8966304A7100"

Yea it looks like they just re calibrated the ECU, this is what it should say in your invoice if it was done proper.

Fml, explains why I didn't notice anything different minus the bucking getting into it. They did say they updated it on techstream but who knows.

Don't know how much you care, but not sure if you wanted your name, address, phone, email, VIN, etc all out there on the internets either. Stay safe friend...
