18’s shouldn’t be effected. Should only be 16’s and a few early 17’s

It may or not be updated on the Toyota owners website yet but I just checked on my made in April 2016 , 2016 TRD OR DCLB . I checked for recalls and service campaigns and it says my truck has none .

It was listed for me. It says that mailing will go out in September. So, parts may not be in dealer stock for a little while.

Mines listed. Doesn’t mean I have a problem. Haven’t heard any noise yet. Did have a problem with the blend door this winter sticking

If it’s a cold day and your windshield fogs up and u can’t defog it because ur fan is droken then it’s a safety issue.

Yes, but it’s still not a recall

Since I don't work for the NHTSA, might want to take it up with them instead: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint

Re-read what I wrote in my earlier replies..I wasn't debating if it was or was not a safety issue, only that using the terminology of "recall" was massively incorrect.

Edited for your pleasure. Just trying to get the letter uploaded to help some people. I honestly have never heard of a "service campaign" only TSB's and Recalls.

its not a recall. Recalls are for safety hazards
this is a special service campaign which, on toyotas website is defined as
    "Special Service Campaign
A Special Service Campaign is the Toyota, Lexus, or Scion owner notification program to inform customers about specific product or technical issues for which inspection and/or repair is being offered without an expiration date. These issues are typically customer satisfaction initiatives. The described service will be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner."

basically they know something is wrong on enough vehicles to warrant replacing them all vs on instance bases like a TSB. Its not going to kill you and not being mandated by the feds. they are doing it as a courtesy to void you coming in for a warranty claim down the road or being stuck with a crapped out fan after your warranty is up.

Not really trying to get fired up about it, but IMO it's important that we're educated consumers...it makes a difference.

you are right. Say recall and every owner here on the forums will swarm the dealership to get it changed out before it burns down their truck. Look at the diff recall. Guys were in a such a rush/panic to get it done they had their trucks held on the lots for weeks/months before they could get parts in.

was going to say the same thing.

would need to be bursting into flames or exploding and killing people to recall.

Do they send letters for TSB's?

I believe as was stated earlier, a windshield you can't see out of is a safety concern.

Wonder what the cost of the parts are and how difficult it is to get in there and replace them. If this effected my truck I'd probably try to replace it myself.
