    Were your original tires 265/70s?

Edit: I think 4.88 is a little tall for that tire diameter, which I think is why your speedometer is reading higher than actual speed.

You're speedometer was reading lower than actual speed. Taller tires reduce your effective final drive ratio. Regearing without bumping up your tire diameter does the opposite, which is why the speedometer reads higher than actual speed. Considering stock gears were 3.73, 4.10 gears with 32.9" tires would probably be very close to stock tires and gears.

Misread your post. I thought your speedometer was reading higher than actual speed.

3000 rpms in 6th gear doing 60 mph sounds high. I'm at about 2100ish rpms doing 60-65. Considering you have two more gears than i do, I'd say you regeared.

I didn't regear and my speedo is more accurate with 33s according to those radar signs that tell you how fast you're going and GPS speedo on the phone. :notsure:

I see what you saying...it makes sense. Does anyone know how to calculate final drive ratio? Reason I ask is because I am going to order gears soon (hopefully on labor day weekend ECGS has 10% off). I was thinking about going 4.88's, but now I am kinda leaning towards 5.29's (because it is a turd gen). My truck is not a DD and I know 5.29's aren't as strong as 4.88's but hate to say my truck drives worse than a Prius with 35's.

Edit: Never mind I googled how to calculate final drive ratio lol

I think speedometer accurate speed is based off of tire size and where your speed sensors are at. If speed sensors are in the tranny, then final drive gearing will throw it off, but if speed sensors are at the wheel, tire size is the only factor. Hence why when i went up in tire size my speedo was off but when i regeared it didnt change.

There's a calculation somewhere, I can't remember it, but I'm gonna have to do it somewhat soon to fix my Ultragauge speed readout for 35s. But typically moving up to 33's throws your speedo off by about 10%ish. So its gonna read 50, but you're going about 10% higher, so 55ish.

It's the calculation for circumference which I believe is just diameter x pi. So new circumference divided by the old circumference. From 265/70/16s to 285/75/16s it was about an 8% increase

Holy shit, just saved some trucker on 80. Was pulling onto 80 at Travis, saw in my mirror the bumper ON FIRE on the sermi behind me, spent about 5 minutes trying to wave the guy over before having to basically risk my truck and slow him down to pull over, he looks agro at first then when he stops he sees the smoke, I'm already running over with my fire extinguisher but damn as soon as he saw the fire that dude MOVED and grabbed his extinguisher and was jumping out of the cab. Didn't get any pics and he gave me a smile and a "gracias", but half the bumper was melted/melting off and the headlight was half melted. Looks like headlight wiring was faulty and caused a fire.
