Just purchased a new 2018 OR DCSB. Will be towing a small pop up trailer and have dirt bike in the bed for many desert trips. Does anyone know of a bed rack/cargo system that can be used with a dirt bike in the bed? Or is there a bed rack that the crossbars can be easily removed for loading/unloading the dirt bike?

I know CBI makes a rack but it seems too short to get a bike under it and the crossbars seem a little more difficult to remove than I was hoping.

Leitner designs has the moving crossbars but the crossbars are just square slotted tubing and they look super cheesey and have a much larger cross section than I was hoping for. I guess they could be swapped out for different crossbars but the Leitner rack is on the expensive side and don't want to spend that much just to start swapping out parts and customizing.

I have to think there is someone out there that has run into this same issue and has come up with a solution. I'm a design engineer and could design and fabricate something, but quite honestly don't want to put in this much effort. I'd rather have something that can be installed that needs very little modification. Everything I have been able to find online just doesn't seem to fit the bill.

So if anyone out there knows of anything existing that would work for this, I would appreciate the input.

If you are pulling a pop up and not using a rack mounted tent, what are you going to be using the bed rack for? Is it necessary?

Wilco makes a rack system that also has the sliding cross bars. I believe that Wilco and Leitner are the only two racks that have that feature.

Roof top tents aren't the only thing people mount to bed racks.

Thanks for the info! I hadn't seen Wilco yet and that's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. And this one is way better looking than the Leitner rack.

I wouldn't run my cbi aluminum rack without the cross bars installed for what it's worth.

No, just looking for something where the crossbars are easy to remove so I can load the bike and then put the crossbars back on. Having to undo 8 nuts and bolts every time I want to load/unload the bike is kind of a pain. Looking for something with a quick release or a mod I could make and add to an existing rack. Just looking to find something as close as possible that doesn't need to much modification.

I know. It's alot harder to display your Rotopax, hi lift, and shovel without a rack o_O

Just razzing. I have the same issue. I just started using a hitch rack to carry my KTM so I can leave the bed rack on.

Pulling a camper with tailgate down...clearance? Otherwise, mount a hitch to your camper if the leverage is there and can support the dirt bike on the back. I know what people may say, but the newly constructed Harbor Freight motorcycle hitch rack is great. I drove 1200 miles last week from LA to MN to move with my '81 Honda XL185s on that hitch rack and it did great. Very little side to side sway or hopping on bumps and bike stayed put cinched down properly. Just a thought to free up your bed storage also if that is a problem. Heck, you could even make a sturdy roof panel rack for your pop up that will support the bike to ride upright like in the bed.

Unfortunately pop up campers weren't built to carry heavy loads on the hitch or on the roof. I have a joe hauler that I used on my 4runner when I had that and they work just fine. But not an option here.

You might be able to get a custom job at a local fab shop. OTher than that I think Leitner is the only one.

You say dirt bike as in a motorcycle, correct?

I'm thinking that unless you have longbed you have a bigger issues with trailering with tailgate down. I'm building a rack that I can run my RTT on roof and bike in the truck. Where the front fender is under the edge of the tent.
