yeah that was my nightmare when doing mine. I could turn 3 of the adjustment holes but not the 4th without moving the shock

So what’s the consensus? Should I leave the Icon coil over alone without adjusting the sleeve off the truck? Or should I adjust it?

Okay, take a breath, we're gunna get through this together...

If you have the press, kinda like this:
    https://www.eastwood.com/fairmount-...MIjb_CzIf13AIVw0CGCh0d6gvMEAQYASABEgKaSfD_BwE

You should be good in the hood.

I remember when I did my 5100's I did all new BJs too, and was trying this stupid method of using a 3-arm puller, a big socket and cutting the UBJ post off. THAT SUCKED, and took me an entire weekend as well.

When I did my Kings etc... I sucked it up and rented the proper tool. To install those plugs, def stick them in the freezer overnight. They almost fell in the spindle with barely any resistance on the BJ tool. I think I still used the 3-arm puller to get the old BJs out, which was still a PITA (I used bailing wire to keep the arms in place), but installing the TC plugs, I did the proper press tool.

I just think no matter what you won't know for sure until they're on. You can adjust them now and make it so you only have to make minor adjustments when they're on the truck.

    This.

When I put mine on, I just left them at whatever factory setting. Then drove it around a little. To settle them out. Still too high so I had to adjust them. Once I get my rear setup going, I'll have to adjust them again.

It's starting to come back to me. I must have blocked that from memory, lol...

At least for me though, I think taking the upper control arm off the spindle is better than taking the shock off entirely. I made a tool that holds the shock in place while I turned the collar, but it was clunky and I scratched up the shock body doing it.

If I can take the UCA out and get the spanner in there, I'll be good to go (I think).

Change of plans. My air compressor hose doesn’t reach all the way to where my truck is parked, so I’m going drill out the bedsides on the 5-lug bed first and then get the suspension on. Gotta get that bed out of my driveway.

I’m definitely not trying to take those u-bolts and shackle nuts off without that air impact.

And that's when you break out the sawsall.

Might be good to do that anyway. I hear lot of people recommending to NOT re-use U-bolts. They are so cheap you might as well put new ones on. That way you don't have to worry if they are seized or not. Just cut.

They should not be reused. The threads will be overstretched
