Mine has creaked squeaked and clicked from day one. The clicking comes from the return spring (spring steel) moving inside an eyelet on the pedal. Good luck getting it addressed, mine is terribly loud in humid weather. 3 trips to dealer and I gave up after having a "field technical supervisor" come up from boston to apply grease and tell me it's as good at it will ever get.

So I wonder what a fix for that would be? Since you know where it originates, maybe it’s something an owner could figure out a way and address.

I will say it definitely has a “springy” type feel to it. I am not expecting much from Toyota. I know dealerships aren’t really worth a crap, but I want them to notate it and also see for themselves what I am talking about. If they say they can’t recreate it, they better plan on taking it back out for a test drive. I’m not going to let them tell me I’m imagining it. Lol.

I'm almost positive a piece of brass shim stock would work great there. Just not sure how long it would last. And it's tough to find anymore short of packs big enough to do all the mt tacos out there.

So the part I'm talking is the blue spring top left corner. Thing that's the groan/clicking sound is spring steel under tension being "ground" against the plastic pedal. Move the pedal with your hand and feel where it comes from. I haven't been ambitious to fix it myself, though I have asked a lot of random old time repair guys if they have a small piece of shim stock and haven't found any, hardware stores around me carry paper thin stuff

High pitched squeaks I think came from lack of lube on the pivot.

Wish you could give us more details on this. There is a TSB for the squeaky clutch IIRC but it does not involve replacing parts..only putting some grease down there. My clutch pedal definitely creaks when it's hot which isn't that bothersome but if they are replacing entire assemblies I would like to no more about that.

Edit: Nvm the TSB does call for complete replacement. Seems way overkill but whatever. I imagine just doing the last step of greasing everything would fix this.

I took a look at all the pieces in the pic yesterday and I agree it may very well be spring related. The issue with mine I guess is that it is inconsistent so it’s hard to recreate by just pressing and depressing the pedal by hand.

I was gonna try and lube it, but I figured I might as well get Toyota to mess with it first on Wednesday of next week. . If I fixed it temporarily then they definitely wouldn’t be able to recreate it, and say I am crazy.

Notice it more in humidity and when pedal gets hot? Mine is worst on a hot humid day but a long drive in the winter with the heat blasted will make it noisy also. For a while I was considering getting silly with the clutch because there was so much I didnt like about the movement, noise and feel which is accentuated by many years driving mazda manual cars (they do a mt that just feels so right to me)

Well I have noticed it now during the summer for sure but I don't remember it last summer when the truck was new. My truck does sit for a day or two at a time in the sun sometimes also. I just mainly notice it especially on incline and reverse. Basically just when going really slow. No matter how you apply the gas i.e. feathering or slowing pressing while letting the clutch out, it's kind of the same feeling in the clutch pedal.

I have driven many manuals also and this one feels tough and reliable, but definitely not the smoothest. :)

i removed my return spring, just simply removed it, the blue one. but I'm not so sure the OP's symptom is the creaking & groaning we're talking about all the time. he's mentioning a distinct click at the end of travel and no groaning, so I'm not sure we're all talking about the same thing.
but removing the return spring does indeed fix all symptoms associated with the return spring. lol

After years of experimenting with different lubricants to stop the old barn door sound in hot weather I decided to try Disc Brake Grease on all the pivot points and that has cured the issue, it stays put in high temps.

100% worked for me as well. had it on for more than a year and no sounds or friction ever returned.

Unknown lift, maybe 2" I don't know how to ID it, and would rather set it back to stock.
I recall having a very distinctive click, both audible and palpable through the pedal at engagement point of pedal travel. It was a broken body of my throw out bearing, but this was a wrangler at 108K miles. None the less, had I not dug into it at the time, I would have chewed thru my pressure plate fingers within a few days. Not saying this is your problem, but it's something to consider. Keep an eye on it lest it becomes something that leaves you stranded.

So for an update the dealer claimed they couldn’t recreate the issue. What a surprise... Not. They said they applied lubricant to it. Still having the issue.

Anyway, long story short they weaseled out of helping me. I called corporate yesterday for my “fixed” rear diff leak that’s has arisen again, and I plan on speaking to the case manager about this as well.

I’m kinda over the service advisor BS at this point.

Thanks man. I addressed both issues with corporate and they assured me that they will get me taken care of. Just got off the phone with the case manager about 5 minutes ago. I really love the sales staff at my dealership, but the service advisors definitely are not on the up and up.

They did a routine inspection while I was there on Wednesday and checked off that no leaks were there on the underbody also. It’s just sad that they aren’t doing our trucks justice.

Wish it were isolated to a bad writer. I've gotten same thing at every toyota dealer and it sucks. I know their hands are tied and can only do what toyota corporate let's them. Wonder if your next step will be like mine was. "Field tech supervisor" comes out and applies grease which does nothing and then they tell you it's as good as it will get and not effect performance.

Meanwhile I just wrote a 2900 dollar warranty claim(I work for a different manufacturer) because someones dog thought it looked tasty(should not be warranty). The difference being the manufacturer and how they handle aftersales

When I go in Monday the differential leak relapse and the clutch pedal are both supposed to be addressed according to the corporate case manager. I really hope this helps. Then I’m changing dealers for sure. Hopefully the next is better than goat balls.

My clutch pedal definitely creaks.. I think it started around 6,000 miles, now have 9,400 so I guess I’ll just mention it at the 10k service
