I think it drops out from below pretty easily? It'd be something that a tech is very unlikely to mess up, esp after they have done a few.

Unlikely isn't good enough for me lol. Dropping out from the bottom doesn't sound bad though. I was envisioning tearing out the entire dash and what not.

Haha! I hear you. Diff howl work and other such stuff would worry me.

There is a Ford / Mazda training center below my old office. Those guys couldn't even park to save their lives.

I got mine replaced when it broke and started rattling around a month ago. It took them probably an hour or so to do the work. Worst part was waiting for the replacement part.

Kind of funny. I've had many of the "recall" issues on my truck though my VIN doesn't show as eligible. Leaky diff, failed CPS, warped rotors to name a few (and there are more) but my Toyota Owners account has showed NO RECALLS despite the issues I've had. Now it does show a "RECALL" and this it even calls a safety recall. I suppose if you were sitting in stopped traffic in PHX or driving in sub-zero winter temps and the fan broke it could be somewhat dangerous or at least very uncomfortable.

Still I guess we'll all get them replaced so glad they are doing something about it. I get the whistling quite a bit though I seem to get it more in colder temps than summer

One suggestion would be to stick your head out the window Ace Ventura style. But in Arizona in the winter, you're likely to get frostbitten in seconds.

It is a $41 part. And simple to install.

    https://partsfactory.camelbacktoyot...yMDE2JnQ9dHJkLW9mZi1yb2FkJmU9My01bC12Ni1nYXM=

My 16 was replaced for a couple reasons. The typical cracking problem but it also had a short somewhere.

I just had my 18 in last week. Mentioned that the AC was not working that great. They said there is a TSB that has them install an additional electric fan in front of the condenser to help with cooling in stop and go traffic. They ordered the kit and will call me when it comes in to install it. I think he said it was an $1,800.00 job under warranty.

That's cropped. Full sentence says 4700 trucks in the campaign were sent to Puerto Rico.

And a bunch of others to mainland US, Hawaii, AK, etc... just wondering why mention Puerto Rico?

Anyways, my service center already ordered parts for mine (built 6/17/17).

Well Hawaii and Alaska are just like any other state. It's assumed trucks there are included in the 185,300. Puerto Rico is a little different. It's an unincorporated territory of the United States which is an area controlled by the US government but not part of the US. Why they felt they had to explicitly mention it I'm not sure. Probably just part of how Toyota North America deals with Puerto Rico internally as I'm sure that's not straight forward.

NOT. As it turns out, Hawaii doesn't fall under Toyota North America. We cannot sign up on the Toyota owner's site, we are treated as a foreign country by them, etc--sorry if I got the nomenclature wrong. Toyota in Hawaii falls directly under Toyota Japan, and here in Hawaii it's called SERVCO Pacific. I have found it to be a completely different animal. I cannot register complaints w Toyota Corporate, etc. They simply do not recognize me.

Alaska is covered, not Hawaii. See below, copied and pasted email to me from Toyota USA:

Thank you for taking time to contact Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We appreciate your interest in our Toyota Owners Online site and your desire to use it for your Hawaii Toyota vehicle!

As Toyota Motor Sales is the Toyota distributor for the mainland United States and Alaska, information and features available on our site are specific to the vehicles and products we manufacture. Our Toyota Owners Online site was developed specifically to provide our customer’s easy access to information specific to their vehicles. Although most U.S. customers reside in the United States, we know some of our customers export their vehicles to other countries. For this reason, it is possible for anyone to make a Toyota Owners Online account, regardless of where they live. However, non-U.S. VIN (vehicle identification number) cannot be registered in the system and are not supported.

You may request to have your account archived, if you would like. However, you are welcome to access the tools and materials available to you on the site. Please note, Owner’s Manuals, warranty and maintenance guidebooks, and other resources available on the Toyota Owners Online site are specific to Toyota vehicles built to U.S. specifications.

For information on the various programs and website support options available for the Hawaii, we recommend contact with Toyota distributor in Hawaii for further assistance with your inquiry. Regrettably, we do not have any information on the services available to Toyota customers in other regions of the world.

    Servco Pacific, Inc.
    2850-A Pukoloa Street
    Honolulu, HI 96819
    888-272-5515

We apologize for any disappointment you may feel with the lack of Toyota support for your area and appreciate you taking the time to gather information about the options available to you through Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.

Please be aware that vehicles in Hawaii may be slightly different from vehicles offered in the continental U.S. and Alaska.

    Sincerely,

    Edith K.

If you do not have a defroster function you will not pass state inspection.
If you do not have a fan you will not have a defroster.
With that in mind I would assume this would be considered a safety issue and hopefully a recall.
Going for weeks without a fan while waiting for parts is unacceptable, as well as requiring someone to drive it as such while part is on order.

    Well, well well.

I have auto HVAC controls. Guess my blower hub is bulletproof.

Its a safety issue if my ac goes out in triple digit weather, I get hot and pissed and kill someone in a fit of road rage. :infantry:

Based on a sister thread, I'm pretty sure that both auto HVAC and manual HVAC control type owners are experiencing failures. This thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ac-blower-broke.502075/

    Anyone else have any input?
