Both auto and manual use the same Part # for the blower motor. This campaign targets mainly 2016 thru early/mid-2017 models. If your service rep plugs in your vin # in and the campaign does not come up for your truck then you are not eligible. It is a service campaign. Not a safety recall. Not a technical Service bulletin.

The amount of misleading information in this thread is disgusting.

They add a electric fan to the condenser?! Like it already sounds like a hamster wheel under there, now you get two of them.

Blower motors were extremely common on 2nd gen's. This is kind of stupid on Toyotas part for choosing a poor supplier.

Its not the blower motor. Or the connectors 2nd gen was plagued with.

Its the fan. Plastic squirrel cage that sits on the motor shaft

Condenser is in front of the radiator.

    Blower is by the evaporator

Oh, and that part sounds like a squirrel in a cage under there with all that chirping noise. And dont get me started about that gerble wheel that runs under the truck at night behind the cab, and those damn mice chewing the wires...

    :)

Yeah, I forgot which of those coils does the cooling. So a fan is supposed to supplement the air across the condenser from the belt driven fan when idling? Do you know if it will be thermostatically controlled or just powered when the AC clutch is energized or something like that? I noticed today that my AC was kinda weak when parked waiting about 10 minutes or so with it at 103 degrees outside, too. If it’s just a fan to fix it, I’d rather DIY it too.

My May 08 2017 ACLB TRDOR is on this list. Called the dealer, they transferred me to someone who sent me to voicemail. Here we are over 7 hours later from department closing and no response. This seems promising.

Ugh, sorry about that. Mine sounded nice and ordered the parts already.

They probably did not use the new updated parts.

I'm assuming its a different part they will be pushing out in september? The one they stalled looked exactly like my old one. It just looks like the fan is just pushed onto the motor

I cannot imagine 2 different fans, would think both styles are covered by that.

I’ll take a look at the “updated number” tomorrow and see if it differs from the 87103- number that you most likely had installed.

Remember that the blowers that were affected were from June 2016 thru August 2017.

If it was just done, Im almost certain you now have the updated motor and cage that has been used on the late 2017 and new 2018’s.

I read this post this morning and was gonna comment saying my A/C kicks ass (2017 TRD Sport). Then karma kicked my ass just for thinking about posting that. Well, here I am now. Going on a trip where it’s gonna be 105°. 3BE9B8DF-F622-41B6-8106-D99B7768C8A3.jpg
