    Agreed..

But you have not suffered the indignation caused by Toyota's hot garbage of a calibration, namely 04B10.

I have to update at some point anyway. That's why it makes sense.. to me.

BTW, it's more than a small improvement over the original OEM calibration.

There's only two things missing compared to OVT 1.04A 91 - The added midrange torque and some throttle snap. The skinny pedal is a bit squishy.

    It does drive quite well.

Anyway, as others have said it's a better place to start if you're building a tune for this truck.

    This is also important.

There was someone in here who said they were close to Mat's new shop in VA....

Sounds like I’m just gonna have to road trip out to the shop. It’s under 1000 miles…

I’ll be in NC for expo in November too which isn’t all that far away at this point

Just an update on my experience with the new Toyota tune. Running an 18 MT pro on shell 93 E10 with the new tune from Toyota. Was running 1.04A91.

Power is definitely down. It “feels” like I’m weighed down compared to 1.04A91.

The driving experience is great. Very smooth. Stop and go traffic and creeping along in first or second is very easy with nice smooth low speed throttle control. On 1.04 i would Get some jerkiness when trying to hold a low speed at 600-800rpms. Now it’s easy.

Using the same gas, my mileage seems to be better on the Toyota tune. I dont Know what they changed or if my truck isnt done learning yet but i have Been posting some incredible mpgs based off the onboard computer. My 6 mile commute to work is a flat, 35mph road with some stop lights. Going 40 with cruise on I can usually post21-23 mpg on the 1.04A91 computer. These past few days I’ve been posting 24-28.

If Mat can add some power in and keep the smoothness and efficiency we will have a winner.

    Pic for proof

This describes my experience as well. I can definitely notice a loss of power on the low end. Once that’s back with 1.05, this will be awesome

Modified the level of gas in the tank
For the OVT guys who did the 04B13 upgrade, and mebbe more specifically @MOC221_ If I may ask it here cuz the other thread is a madhouse for this question...

Is there a Back out procedure (ie. Backing up factory 04B10 file) if for whatever reason this would put my ECU in limp mode?

    Cuz I'm a 04B10

I honestly don't know if there is a back out procedure.
All I can tell you is this is a Toyota calibration, and the update wizard software recognizes an update from 04B10 to 04B13 as a valid operation.
Limp mode happened when two of us were trying out a new file for Mat back in the early days of a dedicated M/T tune. That's when we learned just how "different" 04B10 actually was, because the other two versions (B11/B12) had no issue with the same throttle enhancements. The ECM set a code that caused the truck to go into fail safe or "limp mode". Also, 04B10 seemed to have trouble with changes to ignition that the other two did not. Mat commented that the underlying code seemed to be buggy. In any case, all of that was overcome and it never happened again. To anyone AFAIK.
You're not going to have these problems with 04B13, again it's a Toyota update.

I’ve run through an entire tank now on 04b13 and has been fantastic. 1 to 2 feels much better now. I have noticed a loss of power from idle up though coming from OVT 1.04 (I bogged it pretty bad pulling my trailer). I’ll definitely still be flashing 1.05 as soon as it’s available (Sign me up to be a tester to make sure it’s all good before GA). It is a huge improvement over the garbage stock tune. I do miss the power of 1.04 but the refinement of this has taken me by surprise. Fuel economy is as good if not better than I’ve been averaging

After reading all the reviews about the 04b13 update I am starting to feel a little buyers remorse over the OVTune :( Hopefully Matt knocks it out of the park with 1.05...
