Maybe about 20 years ago I won a chop saw at a welding distributor open house raffle .

I said no thanks put a sheet of paper on saying free and set it by the dumpster .

Not sure someone still might be pissed at taking it home.

Bandsaw. Hands down. You can fly with it when you need to, or you can be a precise artist other times on those jobs that have real finiky fit ups.

For what it's worth, I certified myself a 6g bandsaw operator. No big deal. Haha.

You get a guy on a crew who's an ace with a bandsaw and can precision cut with a torch something that is full of water and has some head pressure...pure gold.

I have a 15yr old Lincoln tig/stick 185. Works great, im sure you will love yours.
I use a miller dynasty200 at work but find my Lincoln has much smoother starts and wanders less. Im sure Miller guys will disagree but just my opinion.

So you weld the same jobs at work and at home??

Then all the consumables are the same

I know when Inverters first came on the Market years ago I hated them with a passion .

After a learning curve I use a Transformer Rectifier if I have no other option.

I remember some of the first Dynasty 200 machines had a very bare bones model maybe that is what you have.

Most have so many ways to dial them the average end user never uses them.

Mostly guage material at home and work. Consumables the same. I just find my lincoln has a better start. Have tried many dynasty welders and they all start with the same eratic arc. Nice welder dont get me wrong, much easier on aluminum but I can make it just as nice with my old battering ram of a lincoln.

I think what you don`t like is the Miller Hot start feature which ramps up the starting current .

Engineers trying to make easier arc starts on the current models that is adjustable

I can see why you would think the Arc starting is erratic

Not to be confused with High Frequency

which the Lincoln does not do and Most Lincoln people tend to hate using the Millers with that feature.

The pipe liners tend to call them Miller Marks

Extensions for my frame horns. 2 x 3 is the exact dimensions of the frame horns. Kinda suprised me.

It was an old pic from when I built my bumper. Needed to make an extension because the frame was bent at the point from the accident. I cut out the trauma and added the piece.

The intention of the post was to get feed back on my weld.

I was in a hurry to get the truck on the road. I did no prep grinding on either side of the weld. Wanted to hear what others thought of the weld.

You have been doing it long enough if you don`t know

It comes down to the welder knowing if you fumbled the ball.

One of the first things I was taught in school before the dinosaurs roamed the earth .

As long as you have a good work connection that first arc is started your good to go.

See how the paint is burnt back maybe some undercoating as well

By the time the puddles leading edge is preheating the metal every thing is cooked off.

Here is a little Red Neck engineering.

Needed to fill a huge gap, one that was way wider than I can do on 14 gauge iron.

This is my "scrap iron" trailer. It's built out of almost all recycled or extra materials that we're just laying around.

It will be just as high quality as a completely new material trailer. Only difference is almost all parts are cost free.

Regardless, roast the shit out of me after you see the pics. It may look sketchy as hell, but it works and saves gobs of time.IMG_20180818_134532.jpg IMG_20180818_134628.jpg IMG_20180818_134808.jpg

Could be, the dynasty only has maybe 5 adjustments on the welder.
My Lincoln has “micro start” or some shit. Its like increasing a light dimmer on the start. So smooth.

Not too sure how much Manganese is in 'standard' rods and wires, hard facing rods/wires have quit a bit. Outdoors, fans and respirators are a good idea.

A little late after 45 years.

If one looks around enough you can find that everything is bad for you this seems to cycle every 20 years or so.

I recall in the sixties warnings about not watching more then a hour of TV a day

Hey guys, I'm currently trying to get out of my current job. It's taking me nowhere and I want out. Should I take welding classes or go through a training program? (3-7 months.) I don't have anything going on after work and it could be time invested into a skill that can land me a better paying job. I know I can learn myself but I would rather have a certification for job reasons.
