Same exactly here. Now I know why I like you. That, and your obsession with Manual Transmissions. Plus your badass shift knobs.

    Oh-me-gawd! It is great!

Do whatever you need to get this done. I did a loop around the neighborhood and was just thrilled. Jist like was said, shifts are phone-it-in natural now. I could be wrong, but rev hang feels like it was decreased a bit. I only had a couple tries.

    Just dooooooo it!

I'll see you in the morning, Mr @WaTaco2018 .

So this one update is so good that it exceeds the benefits of OV Tune?

I dont have the OV tune, but one of the major reasons OV tune was popular was because it improved driveability. These trucks drove like garbage before this update. Power was an added bonus for many.

Now OVtune should focus on making the throttle response "cable like". Delete all rev hang and fix DFCO. I will buy it if he can improve over what toyota just gave us. But this new update is excellent!

I think so when compared to OV's 87 octane tune. The OV 91 octane tune is reported to increase HP but the drivability issue are still present and frankly I didn't really notice a power increase on the 91. Maybe there was but I never thought "wow, that's an improvement". More like "meh".

Update: Just put my first round of solid miles on the truck (LI, NY to Portland, Maine) Coming from the 91 OVTune I can’t stress enough how great this revised stock tune is. Pulls great on hills, drives incredibly smooth and takes 87. I probably will still try the 1.05 version once that comes out but would be more than happy with the truck if nothing else ever changed. Anyone want to buy my OVTune kit?

These reviews are giving me wood...I finally got the ball rolling on getting cables, programs and files. Hope to have it updated by the end of next week. And if there is a way to brick it I'm sure I'll figure it out. If I'm successful however the rest of you trolls should be as well.

Still waiting for someone in the Bay Area whom has hopefully done or no someone who has done this update. Please fill me in. If you can do it I would gladly compensate you for your time.

Hey if I buy the tactrix, and do it on my truck would you be willing to pay $40 for me to upgrade your truck?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I took a good look in this thread and it seems that,
    1. Dealers are refusing or unable to do the update since the TSB says 6AT.
    2. An updated TSB specifically stated for M/T trannies is unavailable right now, so ya'll are just doing the update by yourselves for the time being?

    Thanks!

I just went on a nice little drive to pick up the kids. We got stuck in construction traffic. It was so much smoother. MPGs seem to be holding steady.

Like was said, it feels like driving a regular MT. No craziness.

A couple dealers have pulled it off. Less than 10%.

Yeah. The home install is a piece of cake. Getting TS DL'ed and installed was the most difficult part. The update is step by step on screen.

Gotcha, I guess I'll hold off on doing the update on my own. Don't really feel a surge in any gear although that might be due to inexperience driving a manual...and also because if I do feel a surge I just shove my foot down more.

Gonna wait for Toy Yoda to give me an official update and then I'll haul my merry ass to my dealer! :burnrubber:

    Welcome to 04B13 :)

Still boggles the mind why Toyota produced sooo many of these trucks with sub-standard ECU calibrations.
Now that you've experienced both, what can be said about the engineers at Toyota who thought the old stuff was good to go? Do they actually even enjoy driving a manual trans lol?
    I mean, it's not a small difference.

Anyway, at least we got a fix (sort of).
