What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Not for OME leafs. Not sure about All Pro but it sounds like stock eye size too. My Deavers have the stock eye size too which I prefer rather than something proprietary having to use only specific bushings.

Yup. I bought the kit too.

 

I took a look at the stock leaf spring bushings and they’re completely different. Looks like a pain to remove them.

I have a 2nd Gen Leafspring laying in my scrap pile, and it has the same bushings as the 1st Gen Leafspring.

 

I say gray rather than red but they aren't TCs. Haha. I never liked red UCAs but I think that would be too much red already (hubs & calipers).

I guess I'm boring, I have Icon UCAs & I like em black.

Most factory bushings are like that, one piece with a lip on both sides, not only for leafs either, other suspension parts & the steering rack also.

 

Yeah I know what you're referring to, Low Range OR sells those stock bushings...I picked up a pair not sure which I'd end up needing. They look like they need to be pressed in, don't slide in easily by hand like the others do

 

Damn how do you keep your calipers so clean? I painted mine black only a few months ago & they are covered in brake dust already. I spray them down when I wash the truck but not all of it comes off. Do you spray wheel cleaner on them?

 

The Manual Hubs and Calipers are glossy powdercoated, they naturally repel dust and crap. When there is dust, you can wipe it right off and it’s shiny again.

 

The arm bushings do very occasionally, but the unibal shouldn't, until it dies then you can string it along for another month with lube

 

Ah I see, yeah it's a bit confusing. Like Tyler I was confused when I bought mine, thought I was getting a Wheeler's brand shackle. Put the invoice explains it all with what parts are included in the Wheeler's kit.

 

Powdercoat, damn you baller! I can wash most of it off from the back of the wheel but not from the face because of my wheels. No way i'm removing my wheels just to clean them. Haha.

But at least they black so they don't stand out.

 

Best part of having glossy steelies, I don't ever have to care for them

Luckily when I did my Tundra brake upgrade, the calipers already came powder coated. I splurged to have the Manual Hubs powdercoated as well to match the Calipers.

You should upgrade to Tundra calipers. Honestly one of the best upgrades I have ever done on this truck.

I hear ya. That's why I painted my calipers black, so they wouldn't stand out & be noticeable when dirty. Just trippin a bit cause I spent the time to paint them not too long ago but I'll get over it.

My last two sets of wheels were inexpensive polished wheels after they got dull I didn't care when they got beat up. Just like the wheels I just put on. Was sad to see my first scratch on them a couple of days ago but whatever. It's just that feeling when you having something new & wish they would stay that way.

 

Well guys I'm trading in my lunar mist 03 DC TRD prerunner Taco on a white 06 AC Tundra 4x4 limited

 

Yeah I thought about it but for some reason I thought I had to upgrade to the Tundra master cyclinder at the same time. Then when I found out I didn't have to I was mad cause I had already put on new pads & new rotors. Oh well. Maybe next year.

This past Tues & Wed, I was so bored I went 2 days in a row. Haha

 

Make sure it doesn't have the weak motor mount issue or the common head gasket failure signs from that year
