Realized my taco was assembled in Mexico...should I have gotten a USA made one? Is the plant crappier in Mexico than USA?

It’s a giant corporation that is mostly automated assembly. Standards are standards and if they weren’t met at either plant Toyota would fix it immediately.

The plants in Mexico manufacture Tacoma trucks with more precaution, where as the American worker in the Texas plant just slaps on whatever parts he is in charged of with zero precaution. It's a great honor to be employed at the Toyota plant in Mexico, so the workers must do their job correctly in order to keep their job.

The Texas Plant is highly automated and the Mexico Plant is more hands on, you can decide for yourself which you think is better or the same.

Mine was manufactured in December 2007 at the Baja plant. Still runs like a charm with ZERO problems.

Everything that I own that is assembled in Mexico is still functional. I believe the Texas made Tacomas have head gasket problems at 120,000 miles.

Personally, I'd rather have my truck built by someone fueled by cerveza, siestas, tacos, and a better work ethic...

All of Texas has a head gasket problem (says me from Cali!) :bananadance:

But really, I wouldn’t worry about where they were made, Toyota probably is pretty up on tracking production issues between both locations and takes care of issues pretty well. As for Mexico, good jobs are at a premium there, so like TailHook said, self-incentives and good work motivation are probably pretty high there also.

And this time, based on where the last post went comparing these two places, IBFT :locked:

Yes, but I believe the Tacoma started being manufactured in Texas in 2009-10. Pre 2009 Tacoma models have a slightly higher reliability rate than the Texas Tacomas.

Well Tacos are from Mexico, only fair the trucks are too now!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a racist or stereotype or anything like that but Mexicans are some of the hardest working people I have ever worked with and have for most of my life. I can't hang with them.

Unfortunately made in USA doesn't mean the same anymore as it used to.

If you want to get technical....the Baja plant has been producing vehicles for several years more than the San Antonio plant....not that really matters much.

And nearly all the components, including the Alabama produced engines, come from the same N American suppliers....and supply both plants.

Interesting that so many of us somehow feel where superior to "them non 'Muricans"
