So after months of flawless operation my right turn signal is now hyper blinking when it's on and I'm stepping on the brakes. If i jut turn it on then it's fine but as soon as I step on the brake pedal they go hyper on me. I had 8 Ohm 50w resistors in there so I just order some 10 Ohm 50w ones to replace them and hope that fixes the issue.

This is kind of why i stopped messing with the LED's in the rear tails. Not reliable. Remember, too high of a resistance makes the truck think the bulb is out and cause hyper flashing as well.

I'd love to just use standard bulbs and have full C brake and full C turn signal leaving the reverse lights alone. Simple but more effective at the same time and not having to deal with the resistance problems.

Yeah I was worried about doing this in the first place because I didn't want to chop up the wiring harness and have to deal with hyper blinking but here we are. I'm going to try and fix it with a 10 Ohm and if that doesn't work maybe just put it back to stock. That or maybe change it to the C as brake and moving the turns to the reverse lights.

Finally got around to doing the turn-as-tail mod, the basic one not the switchback amber/backup mod. Used 9ohm 50w resistors so we'll see if I run into the hyperflash issue down the road. I hated the oem taillight setup so I'm very happy to have anything different. Thank you @ToyoDrew for the wiring diagrams, that made the whole process a lot easier.

Now the funny part... I'm definitely a beginner when it comes to wiring/electrical and learn as I go, and that bit me in the ass today. I wasted a good 3 hours because I didn't realize the TaT setup would only work with the LED bulbs. I wired the driver's side light, and figured I'd test it out before I went any further. Well, I hadn't put the LED bulbs in yet. I could not for the life of me figure out what I'd done wrong. After rewiring everything twice, swapping TaT modules and resistors, and trying on the passenger side light as well I gave up and put it all back to stock. Then, standing there with a beer and looking at the TaT packaging on the ground, I finally read the part that mentions it's only or LED tail light setups. Figured I'd give it one more go WITH the LED bulbs and sure enough. Couldn't do anything but laugh at myself.

Anyway, anybody with the TaT setup and 9ohm resistors that hasn't run into the hyperflash yet?

Just a cautionary work to check where your product is shipping from. So I wasn't paying attention when I ordered my 10 Ohm resistors from Amazon and turns out they are coming from China and will be here in about a month. Did a little more research and found https://www.alliedelec.com/ohmite-850f10re/70023443/ from Texas so I just ordered up some from them. The hyper blinking is driving me crazy and I need to fix it. I hope the 10 Ohm fixes it for good.

Great find and thanks for this note for others (cause it's a question that has come up a lot - what resistor should I get)?

I thought the same thing when I first did and ordered the 6 Ohm ones only to see that people were having issues with them so I ordered up the 8 Ohm and they have been good up until a week and a half ago. So hopefully the 10 Ohms fixes it for good. Just waiting on the tracking number because these should be here on Wednesday.

Instead of dealing with all these resistors and TAT modules, couldn’t we just tap into the trailer wiring which already sends a tail/brake/turn signal to a single light?
I guess we would have to do something to keep the front from hyper flashing though if rear blinkers were disconnected in favor of trailer blinkers.

Of course once I ordered the new resistors I get the other ones the same day so now I have 2 sets of 10 Ohm 50 watt resistors. I have an extra set if some one needs them and can't find them. I will be swapping out the 8 Ohm ones this afternoon and hopefully that fixes my issue.

lol, I thought of this, but I think there needs to be some sort of load on the original rear turn signal harness and plus you will have to run a bit more wire to do all of this.

So I put the 10 Ohm ones in and so far so good. Everything works as it should and no more hyper blink when stepping on the brake. If anyone needs a set of 10 Ohm resistors I have an extra set for $10 shipped just DM me.

I'm doing the triton switchbacks in the reverse and using the "C" for brake. I already have the wiring diagram from this thread. I was wondering what bulb recommendations anyone has on a good bulb for my brake/running lights. I guess I would need 4 bulbs.

Anyone with the Tail-As-A-Turn mod done do you feel like the brake lights seem to bright? I've been behind some vehicles at night at a stop & feel like their lights are too bright & blinding me. I kinda hate that. I've been planning on this mod for awhile but just wondering...

I never feel that tail lights are too bright when running down the road. Sitting behind a bright set at a long stoplight is annoying to me. Because of that, I shift into neutral and stay off my brakes when I can.

I won't even get into overly bright headlights (like HIDs in reflectors or poorly aimed LEDs), fogs on all the time, or peeps running high beams all day and night.
