Sorry if the answer is somewhere in the 40+ pages of this thread but does the 0062-18 include the 0058-18 update? Or are they completely separate issues that require separate updates?

I ask because I want to know whether to bring both T-SBs to my appointment or do I just need the 0062-18?

    Thanks.

I showed him the PDF too and he was hesitant to look at it as if I was serving him with divorce papers. LOL

bring it. it doesn’t hurt. some guys have been more successful with it and some guys got lucky with some great advisors. I guess it’s a luck of the draw.

58 and 62 are 2 different symptoms with the same fix. You present the one that fits your situation the best so you have the least amount of pushback from the dealer. For example, if you read the actual TSB for 62 it says that it's for high altitude so if you live in a state of let's say...Florida.... you MAY get a dealer that will say it doesn't apply to you because you're not at high altitude whereas if you go in with 58 for "surge between 40-50" and actually tell them you have a surge between 40-50 then the chances of you getting the update done is probably greater. You get the same final outcome. I've seen some other guys bitching and moaning that they got shafted by the dealer cause they got 58 and not 62 but if they'd do just a small amount of research they'd see there is no difference in the end

    so update:

they did the reprogram and it’s not a huge difference as of yet. I did notice that it doesn’t shift as abruptly so the smoothness is there. it does shift to 4th pretty quick but i’m not sure if it’s all in my head right now. only drove about 5 miles but the truck seems a bit more responsive. I’ll have to drive a bit more to really see what’s going on. no sticker under the hood either but i see a bunch of guys here didn’t get that as well.

I don’t understand the bite back for all of this from the dealerships. just do it, you know? especially if you have the printed TSB with you. at that point, there can’t be an excuse not to do it.

I feel like the advisor I got seemed like he knew there was an issue but didn’t want to commit because there’s no benefit for him in this since this would be a free service covered under warranty.

love to see more feedback from others.

I feel like the improvement is dramatically better for me. Way smoother from stop signs. The pedal responds like it should when merging onto freeway. It no longer has the dead pedal followed by large surge of speed. Passing cars on the freeway going 70 and bumping up to 75-80 happens with ease now. Doesn't hunt for gears or use the highest gear possible.
If toyota was smart they would do this for every Tacoma when serviced. Reviews of performance would go up.

I experience all of these issues so I'm definitely stoked to get this done! I might not wait for the full term till my 20k.

Toyota pays the dealership to perform a TSB. The tech who did the service makes money and the service advisor makes money. Just because it's free to the customer doesn't mean the dealership isn't making money.

Funny how they treat you on the sales floor compared to the service floor.
Call corporate and tell them all of that. Bet it gets done.

I test drove a TRD OR a couple weeks ago. I got on the interstate on ramp, gave her some normal pedal to get up to speed, then there was a very brief LULL (less than 1 second) and then rpm's SHOT up and the truck took off like a bat outta hell.

I was a little embarassed that the salesman in the passenger seat would think I was intentionally flooring it. I noticed it was really odd compared to my 2nd gen.

Is this the "stumble" and "surge" that you guys are talking about?

Interesting. My 2014 (and previous 2012) does this in town at intersections when I slow down from 35mph to yield/look both ways and then accelerate again back up to speed. Must be something in the throttle mapping carried over into the 3rd gens.

I think I will. cars salesman are pretty rude. the funny thing is he tried to sell me the blue one. it was like...dude, i’m literally in one already. then he says “if you know someone who wants one and is willing to pay $8k mark up, we’ll take care of you.” I laughed at him and told him I’ll send him no one. LOL
