Yea a dealer may be able to match the rate, but it may not be with Toyota financial. He has to use Toyota financial to get the rebate. Dealers use whatever loan resources they can. In a lot of cases they need to shop many lenders to get approval for people with low credit scores

I was quoted a similar rate by Toyota and I have impeccable credit so I was ready to walk at a 5.5% rate and already had commitment from my personal bank to meet a 1.5% rate. They took a day to get back to me and then said they would meet my rate I had through my bank. I signed all the paper work at that rate through Toyota financing. Before my first payment, guess what? They sold my loan to, none other than, MY bank (USB) so ultimately I ended up about the same but did get a better deal b/c I went through "their financing" up front. That said, its so nice having my loan visible in my online banking for easy payment and due to the ease I'm honestly paying it off way faster easily shifting money over from other accounts whenever I can.

This, and make sure that same low rate at your bank is valid for refi. BofA offered me like 2.5% or so to buy new but a refi rate would have been over 3%. Do the math and determine whether or not any fees or added rate would negate that $1k discount up front.

I work at a non Toyota dealer, and 0 down for 36 taking the $1000, my rate was 4.8%. If I was planning to actually finance for that long, I would have gone with my credit union. Paying my house off in 2 months, or I would have just paid cash. Definitely depends on how long you're planning on financing and if the interest is more than the rebate in the long run.

F messing with Toyota finance and their all over the place rates. I have Navy Federal and they beat the pants off of anyone when it comes to car loans. Hell, they pre-approve me every year when I don't even need or want a new truck and it's some astronomical amount like $45k, which I'd never spend on a car.

I wound up with 0%/48 from Toyota Financial. Didn't really have a great negotiated price but between the 0% and getting more on my trade in than I was expecting, due to some cosmetic damage, the total cost over the life of the loan was in line with what I wanted to spend.

Personally I'd go with your bank but that's just me. You gotta make the decision that best fits your situation.

That's probably one of my biggest fears lol when the time comes, will I be ripped off or not. I will most likely go through my bank Navy Federal,as they have never led me wrong and from what I've heard they give great rates. Good luck!

Follow your gut instinct when buying a car. You will always have that "feeling" something isn't right and that's when you slow down and take your time before doing anything rational. Make them sit there while you read over everything, they got time and it makes them sweat. I did just that and caught them trying to sneak in a $3000 pre-paid maintenance plan. I said "this was your one and only chance to try to get something by me, take it off or I'm gone the next trick you try to pull".

Same as everyone else is saying. I had 3% with Usaa. Toyota gave me 2.5 plus 500

100% correct. I didn't follow my gut with my Frontier. Though,I love my truck..it's not the Tacoma I've always wanted..I 'settled'. Hopefully by the end of this year I'll have my dream truck. Appreciate the advice and when the time comes I'll keep it in mind :taco:

2.59% is basically prime around here right now. I financed through a local credit union and the Dealer handled the loan through their office when I got my Tundra loan last month. Called the CU to make sure a lower rate wasn’t available. Took the $2,000 dealer incentive rebate and financed at 2.59% for 60 months through the credit union. No fuss, no muss.

I picked up my truck last month but I went in a few days early to get the purchase order from my credit union (First Entertainment in L.A.) Their finance dude was your typical pushy asshole trying to foist Toyota's financing on me even after I told them the rate I was getting. Even lowered their already *great* rate of 3.5% (according to him) to 2.7% - but that was ONLY good for that day only. I told him to go fuck himself and that if my CU did not still have the 1.69% offer then I'd just pay cash for the whole thing. He had zero to say when I came back the next week with the 1.69% loan in tow. I suppose I had the leverage because I didn't need the loan at all but just wanted to free up some of that cash for other things. And my experience with the CU could not have been any easier or more pleasant.

I am not sure if just California law, but you have 5 business days to have another company acquire the loan for no penalty. I’ve done it twice, took the Paperwork to my credit union who gave me a much lower rate.

There are 3 shells and one pea in a purchase. The pea is what you really pay.

If you don't pull shells of the in-house finance and trade-in off the table, you never know what you really paid.

    Other than too much.

I usually walk into the dealership with a pre-approved loan from my credit union, usually at 2.9%. The dealer will always want you to finance through them, only do it if they can match or beat what you're currently getting from your bank or credit union.

I was actually going to order a Frontier S manual but the Nissan dealership never would give me the time of day when I walked in to do so. So I went home and came across my Tacoma SR, made the deal over the phone and am happy it worked out the way it did. Best advice I can give is if some numbers aren't adding up or you have a question about something, ask it on here. Stop in the middle of deal if you have to. If they say "this deal is only good today" don't buy it.

And there's no pre-payment penalty in Ca. I thought that was nationwide but maybe not.
