I think you may have simplified my question to TFly. I didn’t question whether it could be moved or the procedures in the process. It was more or less stating that the guy was gonna have to get it to a dealer somehow if he can’t figure it out himself. :)

Personally I woulda erased this post, called the dealer and told them that the truck won't start for some reason and let the warranty take care of it all.
Awesome job on OV offering to help and get the situation resolved much quicker than I think Toyota would have done it and I'm glad it's getting worked out.

During the flash process it shows you the current voltage and the threshold you need to be above. I don't remember the threshold but the voltage was hovering around 12.4VDC. I had the lights off. AC off. Radio as off as it would go.
It got to the part where it has progress bars and calculates the time remaining. The bars never started to fill. A few seconds later it would time out and say it didn't work. It kept offering to retry but no luck. I also think it was a voltage issue though. This truck always gives me the charging system error if I have the key on without the engine running for more than a few minutes.

New ECUs are ~$950 online. It's being towed to a dealer tomorrow.

I was using a Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 interface. Windows 7 on a VM Ware VM. I do this for work with hardware devices all day.

I'd take OVTune up on his offer before going to the dealer. Your wallet will most likely thank you.

We are rooting for ya man. Hopefully it isn’t super expensive in the end. Really hate that you have to deal with this.

Guys, I knew this was a possibility before I started. I told my wife "it's either going to work or it's going to go south". But I honestly thought the risk was way low. I've ruined my weekend but it's on me.

Just stay positive and it will all work out in the end. It sucks but regardless it will be fixable. Wrecking your truck or blowing your engine would be a whole lot worse. Keep us posted man.

I'm in contact with Mat about him fixing it. I've found a car I can borrow.

Not my style. If I break it I own up to it. Same for speeding tickets. If I get pulled over it's because I'm due to get one.

I will say this. I’ve been flashing my truck due to the iterations of OVTune for the last year. His flash process is pretty cool proof in that if it fails you can keep trying and it will eventually go. Mine would fail sometimes 15-20 times before flashing, but it always did eventually though this was with a different tool than Toyota’s flash wizard. All of this on a VM on my Mac running Windows 10. eventually picked up a cheap $200 Lenovo bare bones laptop with Windows 10. Running the flashes on a dedicated machine has meant I have never had a failed flash so it makes me wonder if the VM could be intermittently interrupting the USB connection or something. Just a theory

Yeah I saw that. I'm interested to see how all this unfolds. My guess is it's not actually bricked, just needs to be successfully flashed and it'll be fine.

If you send the ECU to @OVTune and he recovers it, and you buy the OVTune for whatever it is he charges for the "tune only" since you already own the Tractrix device...
that sure sounds like a win/win to me. Compared to $950 plus whatever else the dealer charges you.
