I guarantee you my residential House is not wired for three phase. I do have an AC unit hookup and it’s only 240v 60hz.

 

You need 3 hots for a ac system (3 phase)

That’s not 3 phase man. Houses are not wired for 3 phase power.

This is how a residential AC compressor is wired (at least the junction box for it)

 

I grante your unit it wired delta. And uses l1 l2 l3 and. A ground

 

Have you lost your mind!? What kind of residential home is wired for three phase power?

North American homes are wired for SINGLE phase, three wire 120/240v.

 

Do you know how many amps a ac pulls on start up and while running? Its a lot. If you ran simgle phase ac your eletric bill wpuld be stupied high

 

I used hamtestonline.com, there is a fee, but you can practice on actual test questions 'til you have it all memorized. There are probably 600 questions in total, and on test day, they use maybe a 100, or perhaps less. I have now managed to forget pretty much everything, but I am licensed. We just use them around our hunting areas, both mobiles, and handhelds. Better range than CB, and if you get on repeaters, even more so.

What? That still doesn’t answer the question as to why you think a house would be wired for three phase power. What kind of home appliance would neccesitate that kind of power delivery?

You find three phase power in factories, industrial buildings, things like that. It’s used for high amperage-high power motors and equipment.

Not a damn residential grade AC compressor!

 

Go look at your unit i bet you lunch that its wired with 3 hots

 

I always kinda wondered how people got that faux wood finish. Guess now we know: bark in the spray nozzle.
