I'm going on a day trip to just below Pinecrest tomorrow... light hiking (checkin game cams). If anyone else wants to follow... just dont give up my cam locations or we'll have problems

 

Rolling out of Hughson at 8:00 AM (long week, not getting up early)

 

Got my sliders on. I wanted compact and sleek but still providing solid protection. I like to explore and overland on trails but I’m not a rock crawler and these caliraisedled sliders fit the bill. Plus they have them in stock ready to go when you order. They just released a 0 degree as well.

 

Got tired of looking at craigslist and bit the bullet yesterday, then drove up to Pinecrest for her maiden voyage. Super fun, but man am I out of shape.

 

Awesome how was it? Where did you pick up the kayak at? Do any fishing?

 

Weather was nice and the water was warm, smoke was there but no worse than in the valley. I paddled almost completely around the lake (skipped the dam section due to a ton of fishermen). Kayak is from REI in sac, I took advantage of their dividend match this last weekend. I'm not that much of a fisherman, I used to go with my step-dad a lot when I was younger, but I was never really into it. It was always just a good excuse to get out into nature.

 

Nothing wrong with that! Sounds like a good workout. haha.

 

How do you load it up on your truck?

 

I have a prinsu cab and toprac with Yakima Jaylow's that fit nearly perfectly on the prinsu crossbars. I definitely need to get a better step stool though, the cheapo one I have can't hang with my weight + the kayak.

Also, 108 opened yesterday at 4pm but no stopping between Eagle Meadows and Kennedy Meadows.

 

I didn't get any pics loaded up, but I can sneak out and take some pics of the j-hooks on the prinsu on my break if thats what you want to see.
