    Should have.

It would have solved complaints 1 & 2.

And while he'd still have complaint 3, it would be on another forum.

You can get blue in a used 16 or 17.
What? He didn’t specify Calvary Blue.

Also, don’t spend $30k-$40k on a truck you don’t like. If you don’t like it, then don’t try to talk yourself into it because you’ll have to live with it afterwards.

    EDIT: Welcome to TW!

I would recommend a Pink Barbie Edition Beetle before a silly Ridgeline

I would recommend the Tacomaworld tag line be revised to:

Tacoma Owners & Enthusiasts, and people who are neither, but just can't seem to move on....

Then you have no idea if it is truly cost driven or not. Sure, the whole reason Toyota exists is to make money, just like every other for profit company. However, they don't do it by putting the cheapest components they can on the truck. Is the drum brake cheaper than a disc brake? Maybe for you and I buying one piece, but on the scale (40,000 drum brakes a month) of Toyota's buying power, it might not.

I want to believe that as well. Looking at the 4Runner, which has rear discs, I would think it would make more financial sense to use discs on the Tacoma. So if I were to guess, it is that Toyota does think it really is beneficial in some way (however flawed that reason may be!)

You cannot argue the fact that disk brakes work better than drums. Not arguable.

Cost is the sole reason that they have drums.

I think you missed the whole drum brakes offer some increased protection and durability vs disc brakes in dirty / off road use.

Why does every other truck maker use rear discs?

Oh and jeeps have rear discs as well. Also 4 wheelers even have rear discs

It depends on what is important. Fact is, with rear drums the truck stops perfectly fine. Is it the preferred brake for most people, no. However there is nothing saying disc is "better".

Personally, I don't care what they have for the brakes, as long as they work. I have changed both drum and disc in my life, and I don't like doing either, so it doesn't matter to me which it is. If Toyota's "reason" is cost, that is also fine with me as they still perform the function I need them for.

It could be said this is because "4 wheel disc brakes" sells and has nothing to do with performance....

Rear drums stop tacomas fine but not as well as discs would. Comes down to cost.

Not true disc brakes are proven to work better than drum brakes
