    Yes. Is that your personal rig? Oh ok. I didn’t know GMRS need a license too

    @Biscuits the super summarized version...

    They took on too many orders, fell behind, moved, continued taking on orders, fell further behind, treated employees like shit, continued taking orders, fell even further behind, lied to a bunch of people on TW, got kicked off the site, fell further behind, refused to give people refunds

    Not sure what happened after that. Basically they kept taking people's money without reverberating a protect or any sort of communication

    Yes.
    so GMRS vs Ham radio (specifically 2m and/or 70cm)
    I think GMRS is easier, because there's no license test. I also think it's easier because there are channels similar to the Citizens Band.

    The disadvantage of GMRS is there are only 22 channels that you can use. 7 of those 22 channels overlap with extremely common FRS radios. Which means you have half the available channels CB has, and an even more commonly used (in 2018) service. On channels 1-7 because of the overlap with FRS you're limited to low power. Which is probably fine.

    Ham radio can do things GMRS can't. It has several orders of magnitude more frequencies available to the operators, and a much larger selection of equipment to select from. (this is primarily important when space is at a premium. I'm unaware of any readily available GMRS radio that has a detached control head.)

    Yes.
    depending on antenna, I'd say between 1 and 3 miles. Assuming both sides have reasonable installations.

    Every week may be a bit hard to organize for a takeover, since I'm quite sure people have other duties to family and such..... But what if we establish that once a month on the first Saturday of every month, we make an effort as a club to show up? I'd definitely be willing to drive to Houston once a month to make this happen..... What do you think?

    I don't think that's unreasonable. And I think that with it being a Saturday it allows a little bit more time for people to recover from the drive as well. I obviously do not think that you guys should try to make the drive every week I was just saying that's the frequency of the meet.

    And like you said, it'd be great to grab food early in the evening or after, or Chick Fil A..... Everyone loves Chick Fil A.
    Let's wait and see what others from the Houston area think.... .But I think its a great plan.

    Maybe organize something with DFW and alternate. I'd like to attend both meets, but don't think I want to drive to both Houston AND DFW every month. But that's just me. If the other Austin guys are up for it, then go for it!

    Sweet truck my man! I loved my first gen Tundra. Thing was stout
