The new bass boats are crazy; my old boss had a Triton with a Merc that would do the same thing, but he had it pitched for acceleration and it topped out around 60 or so. Still terrifyingly fast when you're on the water, though. His new one is even faster, but every time we've been out it's been too choppy to really open up the taps.

Relatively being the operative word
Mine aren't terrible; you just need to take the intake box apart to get at them. On the old motor (the 45hp that it came with) you had to take apart the whole front side of the motor because it had the carbs mounted behind a solid steel/aluminum plate that the trim solenoids and starter frame bolted on to. So you had to pull the starter, pull the solenoids, remove that bar, and THEN you could get at the carbs. This one's just 8 screws, some fiddling/cursing, 4 more screws, 2 bolts, more cursing, and then you've got access to the carbs.

Not yet. An electric trolling motor is on my list of things to get, but since I usually just drift fish rather than trolling it hasn't happened yet. Definitely got lucky, though. Happened close to the dock, on flat water, without a big group in the boat. And it completely clogged the jet and stalled the motor, rather than just leaning it out with a partial clog and letting me gradually melt my pistons.

The trolling motor on my BIL's boat was the bomb. Push a button and it deployed itself, retracts itself and even has a anchor feature that keeps it within 5 feet of where you set it

He said his boat was over 90K!

Yeah they are really impressive! I never got scared even at those crazy speeds. The thing was just so stable

Wow... you have to REALLY like fishing to drop that kind of coin on a little boat!

The whole Bass scene is a fishing sub-culture.
    That's a sharp looking boat.

He said that same thing. His house is nothing to look at. He just has a little duplex in Taunton that he paid like 115K for

He is really into it! He goes almost every weekend all summer long!!! He also has the gear to go with it too. At one time I was using ONE of his rod and reel combos and he said to me as I was putting it down to make sure it didn't role off because it was worth almost $500. Christ even his rain suit looked crazy expensive. Lol

Fishing to me is fun once in a while. I could never be into it that much though

It would cost you about $400k to buy a new one of what we have up at the house in Maine, and we just use it for picnics LOL

Mine's nothing fancy either, but I still use it nearly every day, not just on weekends for 6 months out of the year

Yep, sounds like Geoff is hosting the first annual NETWBS Columbus Day BBQ at his 'picnic house' this year

I meant that my house is nothing fancy but I still use it every day  I only take the boat out on the weekends and occasionally after work.

    Funny thing my BIL said.

He was talking and saying he will probably keep his boat for 1 maybe 2 more seasons then trade it in for a new model so I asked if he planned to keeping the truck much longer or if he planned on upgrading that too. He said he planned on keeping it for another 8 to 10 years because he had pretty low mileage on it and because "those things are expensive!" LOL

It's funny what people deem "needs". I don't care what people spend their money on, it's theirs, and I've probably bought plenty of things other people think are silly. But that doesn't stop me from reading threads on some forums or looking at a new "must have" and getting a little bit of a chuckle

Oh, got a well today! When I left they were at 130 feet and thought that would be far enough, gotta check in with that. Need to get it settled and cleaned then can test the water. Already have our septic drawings all signed and stamped, electric is awaiting state approval for a new pole since we are off the highway (rural two lane) but we are almost ready to really get going. Supposed to start sometime in September, October worse case. Got a 5 month build estimate, I am sure that will vary based of changes as we go, but our contractor built a much larger and much more complicated building for us in 11 months, so I don't think he's lying to me with the time estimate.

The rubber around the bearing will allow some movement, even new, but that looks shot. I bet that’s causing a lot of vibration, even if the bearing inside is still OK.

Thats exactly how much mine moved... it's life is ovah  New one only moves a good 1/4" at most. Some guys are saying the Spicer CB is good, saves you some cash if OEM seems overboard...Good vid, helps others to see it in real time :fistbump:

Where’d you find the Spicer carrier bearing? All of the OEM u joints are Spicer, chances are, the OEM carrier is Spicer also. When I had to replace mine, all I could find was OEM and Dorran as options (or the solid mount custom options). I think OEM was around $160-170 if I recall.
